Ahh this is such a lovely friendship! I love the two of you together! I was really into His Dark Materials and Harry Potter when I was younger as well. My favourite childhood books were Walk Two Moons by Sharon Creech and Where the Red Fern Grows by Wilson Rawls, which were both books that my favourite elementary school teachers shared with our class. I haven't read The Handmaid's Tale either, and only last year did I read To Kill a Mockingbird (it wasn't in my high school English curriculum, but it is for most students who study in the States). I've seen a lot of Eleanor Oliphant is Completely Fine and Why I'm No Longer Talking to White People About Race, and after hearing about how other people have raved about those books to you, they're definitely getting bumped up in my TBR!
