People need to realize that in all western societies every ER goes by acuity not who came first. I’ve seen people go absolutely nuts yelling and screaming at staff because the person that came in after them went back to a room before them. You need to understand that your hangnail is not as emergent that man or woman who just came in with chest pain and after an EKG they find tachycardia. That’s serious and needs urgent medical attention. You may be in pain with that sprain or broken toe but you will not die waiting. You’re not the only one having possibly the worst day of their life. Also, please understand this. Special message to frequent flyers, going by ambulance won’t get you into a room right away. Again, it comes down to acuity.

Exactly this. I have my own experience with this being rushed through to a room because of my vital signs were showing I was in diabetic ketoacidosis along with other underlying conditions I wasn’t quite aware of at the time. I’ve been a type 1 for 23 years now and 5 years ago was the first time I’ve ever experienced diabetic ketoacidosis. They take people based on the seriousness of their conditions.

Whenever I end up at the hospital, I get triaged to the top of the list because usually it's things like burst cysts with vomting and bleeding, tachycardia episodes, and so on. People don't understand triage though and get angry.

@VroomVixxen
@VroomVixxen 5 ай бұрын
Yes! Incredibly painful! What is worse is dislocation needs to be set and unless you’re a child they don’t sedate you. It’s rare that ketamine is given when setting the dislocation. When some people are in incredible pain like this your nervous system is going haywire. All you can do is feel the pain you’re in. Plenty of people can be given loads of opioid pain medication and it’s not sufficient in easing the pain or it only lasts 10-15 minutes at most. You are freaking out thinking you’re never going to be out of pain and it creates even more anxiety, fear and pain.

I had an ear infection once. One of the most painful experiences of my life (so far). I did everything I could think of. Rinsing my nose with saline, moving around, laying still, all the while googling like a madwoman and just praying for my eardrum to burst so I could get some relief. After several hours of plain torture I realised there was one thing I hadn’t tried. I took one ☝️ paracetamol. Twenty minutes later I felt no pain what so ever and couldn’t believe how stupid I’d been.

That old dude getting his knee drained -- for Pete's sake, you can't tell me there's no better way to anesthetize the area. He was in bad pain and they weren't acknowledging it. 😢 He said he felt like they were treating him like a guinea pig, and they just wanted to "try again". That's why he wanted to go home. I would have done the same.

They wanted to put more painkiller in and he didn't want it. It is very painful, he just needed more than usual. He reminds me of my mom. She had heart trouble but refused to believe it as no one in her family had that, she said. They all lived a long time. So Dr gave her a baby aspirant every day. Died of a MI at 94.

Bone grinding on bone is INCREDIBLY painful. I had a bone spur from an improperly healed metatarsal break in my foot surgically removed because it hurt so bad it prevented me from walking.

My partner dislocated his shoulder out fishing..took them an hour to get him back to a car in the boat, then half an hour to a hospital. No pain relief the whole time and I was on the phone to him and never once heard him scream either. But then I watch midwife videos and see women going natural and not screaming and I screamed my head off during labour. So I guess people deal with pain differently lol

I didn't see the elderly patient get any numbing shot prior to the knee injection..not ok at all. He has every reason to be screaming n feeling like a guinea pig. Who's watching these over these new Dr's. He messed. No wonder this gentleman wanted out and was willing to walk out! He's lost trust in them !

Screaming like a little girl?? Girls and women have a WAY higher pain tolerance! I’ve heard this from everyone from tattoo artists to doctors. Women can handle way way more pain. We monthly handle the pain equal to heart attacks and still go to work and school. That man saying that was incredibly insulting. Men are far more fragile when it comes to pain and sickness.

Jeez,why don’t they just put the poor old guy out to drain that knee? Barbaric is what it is! It’s absurd! Have mercy & stop torturing people..I don’t blame him! No reason for this…. 😢😢😢No, mustn’t waste their time & resources.. bs on that too! Be compassionate for people in horrible pain poking 3 inch needles in!

My mom gets her knee drained every couple months. They never numb it. It's always how I've seen it done (at least in the states). Lol Big needle, lots of fluid. She has bad knee arthritis. The most they tell her to do is take a motrin before. She never screams or squirms. She just hisses once and then that's it.

You don’t know much They weren’t given a chance to put enough numbing meds. He let them poke once and it has to be in several places to completely numb it.
