"Nobody needs extensions." Thank you for making that point. My sister and I both have bra strap-length natural hair. I'm pretty simple when it comes to styling, but she has no problem rocking extensions, a weave or a wig. She told me that when her coworkers see her natural hair, they always comment about how she doesn't need fake hair. People fail to realize that extensions, wigs, etc. are not always about "need." For some, it's a way to protect their own hair and for others it may be about style preference. For some, it's both. Thank you again for addressing that point in the video. BTW, I LOVE this hack. I love ponytails, but hate using tons of pins when wrapping tracks. I will be trying your method with some old crochet hair I have.

I like the tie around method you used along with the Bobby-pin to keep the hair in place. I find myself using far too many pins to secure my ponytail. Not only do they irritate my scalp, but take away from the natural look of the hairstyle. This was a very helpful tutorial! Thanks!

I love this idea! I'm in the market to purchase human braiding hair next month for my ponytail. I found your technique to be so easy to loop pieces of the hair onto the elastic band. And just placing it over your existing ponytail for that laid back style. No more drawstring ponytails with the combs @ the top and bottom. Bad!!! I wanted the shorter hair for a mohawk of ponytails. Added volume to my own hair. So I cut them in half and then I did exactly like you did. But as soon as I let go of the pull it just loosened. I guess I'm going to have to try tomorrow and use some glue or something. Maybe some heat and melt it.
