Thank you very much for this wonderful documentary. Nothing was said about the war in the Beekman house, only after 40 years did we learn more bit by bit, virtually nothing was known about Yolande. This documentary gives a good overview of the history.

Hi Jacqueline, it is great to hear from you. Yes, it took quite a while to piece her life together, an incredible lady. There are a few videos about some of the more well known female SOE operators, but I wanted to do someone who was far less recognisable but no less brave ore deserving in having their story told. I am really glad you enjoyed the video 😉🙏👍

In the outskirts of the Dachau crematorium there was a shallow ditch. Individuals to be shot were made to kneel and shot in the back of the head. Bodies fell in the ditch. Sonderkommando men then collected bodies to cremate. NOTE this area has been landscaped. Just before the Camp was liberated Georg Elser was shot there He was the man who tried too blow up Hitler pre-war in the Munich beer cellar. He had been kept alive in the Bunker cells for years. Just like the 3 women agents at Ravensbruck they probably held hands at the execution

Thank you for this video! My grandfather is Jaap Beekman, Yolande’s husband. Factually you are mostly spot on! Except that Cordelette was a man!

CECILY Lafort was gassed at the Uckemark death complex at the back of Ravensbruck,it used to be a youth detention but was converted to a death camp. The 3 women shot at Ravensbruck were Violette Szabo,DeniseBloch and Lillian Rolfe. There was another SOE agent there who was shot in the head when first captured her name is Yvonne Rudellat she was partially incapacitated whether real or imagined and got mixed up with Jews being sent to Bergen belsen in the middle of a typhus epidemic. She survived liberation by the allies but died a week later. The 4 shot at Dachau was Nora Khan,Eliane Plewman,Madeleine Damerment and Yolande Beekman she

All this clandestine actividy that cost many their lives didn't shorten the war by one single day ?

Probably increased the number of executions but that's just an opinion.

It brought the end of the war forward by six months 😢

They saved a lot of lives by disrupting the Germans ahead of D Day. I don't think of their work as necessary to shorten the war but as necessary intelligence to save lives while gathering critical information. Some resistance women were cozying up to high up German officers and were able to get information on the location of a critical target. Can't remember exactly what was being developed there but the Allieds were able to bomb it. One resistance woman was able to break fellow fighters out of a prison. These women were light years ahead of the women's lib of today. ❤
