***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out new videos every week! We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we give up the rat race and live simpler, more fulfilling life in the country.
We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.

So glad you had a good year! I turned 70 this year, made a very difficult move from my home state of Kansas back to Missouri to the area where my son lives so I could see him and my grandson more. I love gardening, gardened 50+ years, and after watching homesteading videos like yours, I grew hundreds of plants from seed. I even grafted about 15 tomato plants, basically just having fun with trying many fun varieties. I lived with my son and grandson from 2015 to 2022, turned the back yard into garden, built a cattle panel hoop house greenhouse, grew 100 tomato plants in 2021 and 200 tomato plants in 2022. I had pepper plants, squash, melons, potatoes, sweet potatoes, flowers and delicious strawberries. I experimented with gardening methods like hay bale gardening, woodchip mulch, which I do not like, too hard to dig 200+ planting holes in and very splintery to walk over, also, small hugel culture spot, grafted tomato plants, etc. Garden heaven. Bless my son for letting me garden in his yard. Your videos are the gold standard for gardening and homesteading and my source of entertainment! Thank you! Now, how about a pantry tour and more cooking and preserving, foraging, shopping videos! Have a very Happy New Year!

What a Hugh praise for Samantha! That's the greatest joy that can ever be experienced for her and for you all as her momma and daddy. Thank you for sharing your life with us. I am 69, and you have taught an old dog new treats in gardening. I grow mostly in my 36x16ft greenhouse, but I have 6 8ft raised beds, a 60-foot hugelkultur, outside. I also raise my peas and potatoes in pots and bags. I live in Alaska but lived in mid Missouri until 2015, when as a missionary, my late husband and I were called up here. I still do Bible study and discipline in the ladies' correctional center here. May the Lord bless you all this year, in all you stand in need of.

On a sad note, I lost my son who was 36 years old in September in the 5th. He is a father to two daughters ages 13 and 4. He died from pulmonary embolisms and deep vein thrombosis. On a higher note, I have started a walk fit program to improve myself, along with diet changes. This has helped quite a bit. I have to say Kevin and Sarah, that you both look soamazing! You seem more relaxed, happy and the way you both look at each other, that is true love!! I love that about you!! ❤ Much love ❤️

I'm so sorry for your loss. I expect that your son had complications from the shot. My family lost 3 suddenly in 2022. My uncle just died in Sept 2022. My cousin (his son) had a stroke and passed a week later. Another cousin died 4 days later. My healthy 36 year old niece lost her vision for a few weeks, most of it has returned. 2 of my sisters had emergency gallbladder surgeries within 2 weeks. These events all happened within 6 months. I don't want to make you feel worse, but I think it is time that people start talking about what really happened. No more experimental interventions. Be healthy in 2024.

I am so sorry for your loss. 😢 My heart goes out to you Losing My son one of the most excruciating things I have ever experienced. I have prayed for יהוה to comfort you. Psalms 147:3: “He heals the brokenhearted and binds up their wounds.” He’s the one who comforts us in all our trouble so that we can comfort other people who are in every kind of trouble. We offer the same comfort that we ourselves received from God. 2 Corinthians 1:4

It's great to know that you're doing better and to hear about your successes! My partner and I were finally able to move back to Missouri, and even planted a winter garden for the new owners that includes flowers, garlic, and berries to feed their family next year. We spent a long time considering your old farm, but we just couldn't swing it since they work from home and the internet situation is extremely important to have be fast and reliable. Now we're in Lebanon, building up an urban homestead. We're already got blackberries and rosemary in the ground and have a plan mapped out for the property. I grabbed graph paper and approximated the dimensions of everything when I mapped it out. I was spot on, and I can't wait to build this tiny plot into a more self-sufficient place. We're even hoping to work with someone here to become a part of a community garden so that we can start participating in Homegrown and Handgathered's challenge to eat only homegrown and foraged foods for as long as possible over the winter.

A wonderful year for you- minus the tick fever and loss of calves, that is. It was lovely being able to follow along, looking forward to each of your videos. It was a weird year for my husband and me, with both blessings and challenges. We too took up a low-carb lifestyle. We eat a ton of veggies, so I don't consider it to be Keto, but there are no starches or sugar. We've both lost about 80 lbs each, so we're far healthier and our blood work shows it. However, he got appendicitis and I got an umbilical hernia, so we both ended up with abdominal surgeries. That's no fun and I'm 12 days post surgery, so Christmas celebrations were kept light and brief. We also had the solemn task of having to evict a tenant from a second home, who'd stopped paying rent. After giving her nearly a year of grace, that court proceeding took several more months, and we just regained possession on 12/31. We were grateful that she left on the ordered date so that the sheriff didn't need to physically remove her, but now have the task of cleaning up a serious hoarders situation that will require gutting the kitchen and bathroom, and those renovations before we can list it for sale. Still, we're grateful to have that concluded after more than a year and a half of that challenging stress and have already made impactful progress with the clean-up. I don't know why I had an obsession with watching hoarding shows in the past, but I guess I was getting trained and prepared with how to safely approach and clean up that situation. Please pray for our former tenant for recovery from her multi-faceted mental and emotional illnesses.

May the Lord give you peace, grace and strength to work through your grief. May you feel His presence each day. Isn't it amazing how gardening helps us see the regenerative power of life? I got into gardening after loss not long ago and find there is so much about it that is restorative. Planting the little seeds and waiting for them to sprout. Working outside early in the cool of the day, seeing the dew on the leaves. Finding a bright green tree frog peeking at you sitting atop a the broad leaf of a corn stalk. Seeing the first rays of sunlight shine through the vines of tomatoes highlighting the glistening red globes. Swarms of little sweat bees, honey bees and other insects pollinating the flowering dill. Seeing those little seeds produce pounds of tomatoes and green beans, big pumpkins, and more. It is the perfect metaphor for life. May your garden prosper and be healing and bountiful this year!😊🐝🥕🐞🥦🍅🌄

We had some success with our farms but the tragic thing that happened to the family is we lost my father who had the neighboring farm. He taught me what I know about farming/homesteading and was one of the toughest guys I knew. He worked as a brick mason all his life and would come home from a day of that to farm not 1 but 2 little area homesteads/farm that he owned. He was 89 years old when he passed in Oct. just shy of his 90th birthday. I am continuing to farm/homestead on the 3 small farms(including mine). He had incredible calving success last year. he had 6 cows and 8 calves. That's right. 2 sets of twins. I had 5 cows and only 4 calves. Don't believe we lost one. she just never calved or showed like she was ready to calve. We changed bulls this year but the calves this year aren't his. So, I will have 1 last chance this year to keep a heifer or two from the prior bull.

How can y'all sit so close to the fire and not burn up? I remember standing in front of the heater but not for long. Happy New Year to all of you

For me it was a very sad year. I lost my husband in February after being married for 54 years. I miss him so much.

I wanna say that I really enjoy you folks. I lived in MO for 6 years on a homestead in Drury, which is about 30 min from 3 towns, Ava, Mountain Grove & West Plains, a perfect spot, it gave us choices & was a quick trip to whichever we decided to go for shopping. We had 80 acres along a creek built a home ourselves, raised rabbits, mostly sold through a Coop that we belonged to & we had chickens, a big garden etc... at that time we didn't have larger animals. & I loved it there, it was one of the best times of life, we had our only son after 17 yrs married.. born in West Plains. You are so right about the rocks, lol... we were lucky & our big garden had the creek very nearby so we were able to put a little pump in the shallow stream to water it & plenty of good rabbit fertilizer for nourishing the soil. I miss it so much. I think we'd be good friends. We were there from 1983 until 1989, so I'm old now (never too old) & my sweet husband passed in 2002, so I'm now in TN, still on a little farm (I rent here) & my good son now has 4 kids, a wife.. goats & pigs out in AZ on just a cpl acres. I may have to move out west to be nearer to them, but for now, I garden a little & this spring I'll have chickens again but that's about all I do out here. I'm a painter/artist so that takes a bunch of my time too... I live the homestead life that I love so much out here & through watching you two (I also live a Keto lifestyle) I share your spiritual values as well, the world needs more of that. God is so good & I pray He will continue to bless you & yours through 2024 as well. Have a Great New Year!

Not sure it is a successful thing but in June of 2023 I decided to leave my job of 17 years of nursing and try to get healthier , been trying to lose weight! I am a psoriatic arthritis patient , I have celiac, and I have anxiety disorder. To say it has been a life changing experience is an understatement! I will pray for you and request that you will do the same for me as I could really use prayers in this coming year. I enjoy your videos

Wow. Big changes. We pray that the Lord leads you and shows you what you need to do to take control of your health. All things are possible if we listen to Him.

Guinea hens eat a lot of ticks. Is that something you would consider raising & let free range on your property to control ticks? I enjoy your videos. ❤

Most exciting is your daughter being baptized. Time is short. End times are here. I’m praying for grandson’s salvation.

Our youngest son, got a new job in VA (5 hours away). They sold their house here, made a nice profit, and bought a larger home there. The area has lots of wildlife preserves, boating, fishing, and camping areas. We are all excited for them.

Congratulations, your videos are inspiring and educational. You’ve had a awesome year. I started canning & persevering food couple of years ago….able to purchase produce from some Amish in our area. Living in town and limited mobility I do some potted tomatoes and herbs. I wish I had gotten into this year’s ago ❤️ better late than never.

Wishing you a fantastic year on the coming year ! Happy New Year. When you talked about your geese it brought back a memory . There was a little elderly lady down the road from us . She would play her harmonica to them . They would come running and squawking . It was so fun to watch them. They loved her so much. God Bless you and your Family!
