It may not look like a lot, but the regen buff this weapon gives you can actually help you to survive though battles. if well used, is bot a damage and a survivality weapon, and since mages cant rely much on defense....is quite nice.

if you get hit the regen rate resets, If the weapon is stop being used it also resets. Which can happen when you run out of mana or no enemies to target, plus the regen doesn't activate on Destroyer, Prime and Twins phase 2

@@Kurai0 i find myself running out of mana more frequently than missing a hit, maybe a good Buff for this weapon would be having its mana use decreased. That, or a timer for the Buff, but i doubt we'll see It, is quite ignored, and the no rehén from mechs is a low hit, i forgot about that part.

honestly I'd use this weapon mostly for a neat weapon to use when my house is being covered in enemies or if any of the invasions start, seems super useful to me

It took me until that thumbnail for me to realize the weapon is not a Skull Staff but an actual Skull and Spine with bits of Flesh.

tbh might be a good idea to actually compare it to other crowd control weapons, like the harp, and the clinger staff, and the vile shard think its a bit too biased if you compare it to mostly single target like sky fracture and spirit flame, while weapons like serpent and meteor has limited pierce

harp is post twins, clinger acts as a secondary weapon, the vile shard is just bad. Life drain is kinda like an all-rounder weapon, being decent at everything but excelling in a specific task. Like crystal serpent being good for bosses but decent for other uses

@@Kurai0 oh right harp is post twins oops (i had the idea it was on the tome tier for some reason) shard honestly isnt bad but life drain just outclasses it in every way, particularly the infinite range, if it had big damage to compensate for that would be nice i guess yeah clinger staff is secondary but it excels at crowd control as well due to the high knockback and works well against worms i see your point, its probably redundant to have these comparisons (maybe new video idea can be why is vile shard so stinky and how it can do better)

I think it is a good weapon, especially against worm-like enemies(it can melt a wyvern in about 1 sec) other than the crowd control, then it is useful in underground crimson against floaty gross

I just use this weapon because of the added regen, but never used it against the destroyer because everytime I did I died in 10 seconds When I did a ROD farm, however, it excelled at keeping literally everything away and giving me extra regen and breathing room.

I use the life drain in combo with Palladium armour. both of them give regen when you're attacking so I find it very useful in invasions and bosses like queen slime and destroyer(the probes especially)

Any weapon does good agaist destroyer, especially melee and magic, because those dont require special ammunition

I've always considered this as an amazing option against The Destroyer It shreds the boss if I aim it at where the boss spawns, in literal seconds Granted I also quickly die but it's part of the fun

Despite always playing mage, I’ve never used life drain. I always just go for the better single targets. Also, meteor rod and sky fracture are pretty good crowd control options as well.

Huh, every time I tried this weapon, I always just sorta dismissed it, due to it not doing anything visual when there aren't any enemies. Like, I know it DOES do things when there ARE enemies, but I just sorta dismiss it. Using both it and Sky Fracture seems pretty great!

Ah the life drain, its not as bad as people make it out to be, but its still not what I would call a "go to" weapon. Its ok in short. Also that thumbnail just looks like a dead guy to the non Terraria fans who wouldn't understand that its actually a life force draining magic wand XD
