If the cost of a brand new carbon fiber air cylinder has kept you from getting into PCP airguns, a Life Extended cylinder may be the answer! These carbon fiber cylinders are lightweight and capable of storing up to 4500 psi of high pressure air. Potentially providing thousands of shots for your PCP airguns!

I have tanks that were never used or lightly used with year 2000 manufacturer. I have no problem using them for another 15 years, they are like new. I fill my own because stores would balk at the date on them....

Hexagon is the name of the company in Colorado. Hexagon sells bottles but they do not come with valves. I've been emailing back and forth with a lady named Kayla. $375 for a 1 hr bottle, plus shipping plus a valve. Depending on shipping you will be at or just above $400, add a $150- $175 for valve and fittings, you are not saving as much as you think. If you have your own bottle, Hexagon will re cert the bottle for $300. Its not as consumer friendly as it sounds. Then you have to send it to Hexagon every 5 years, shipping to and from plus the cost of the test. I'm not ragging on the company or the process, just doing the math.

I see you guys are all out of these LE tanks, my question is, if I get a used tank elsewhere as you seem to be out, could I have it life extended by Digital Wave? Can you provide the details on the average cost of the MAE testing?

I have a 74 cu. ft recently expired Tiger shark tank. Can I send the tank in to get it life extended or do I have to buy someone else tank and My gauges and valves are fine. Do I send my current tank in to them for this? Video kind of confusing on what people can do that already own a tank and just want it extended another 15 years.

Tyler, on the Pyramyd webpage for these, it shows a tank with a date written via felt tip marker. What does such a date mean? 15 MORE years to go from THAT date, or what?

Great review but, what your saying is even if I buy a regular or a non life extended tank ,either way it will still have to be tested every 5 years correct? Sorry I'm just a bit confused . Thanks.
@tylerpatner6591
@tylerpatner6591 6 жыл бұрын
That's correct. With a brand new tank, you currently have to have it hydro tested every 5 years from the born on date. With an LE tank, it's the same interval but from the Life Extended date.

However, digital wave states in their promotional video that their certification cost a "few hundred dollars", which for fire departments might be significantly below what they spend on a new tank, but that is hardly attractive when one can buy a new tank from China for $300 delivered.

So basically what you're saying is that the tank has been recertified for 15 years but it's only good for 5 years without being re-examined therefore in my opinion the tank is only good for 5 years correct ?
@tylerpatner6591
@tylerpatner6591 6 жыл бұрын
The tanks are Life Extended for up to an extra 15 years from the date of manufacture. There's no guarantee that it will pass the re-cert 5 years from when it is Life Extended, or 10 years from that date for that matter. Just the same way there is no guarantee that a brand new tank will pass hydro at each of the 5 year intervals it must be tested at. A lot of it comes down to how you take care of it. You keep the tank in good shape, and you should have nothing to worry about, that goes for a new, used or Life Extended tank.

with pcp we are just useing them for air not bring them in a burning building an or dropping them ,wich i am sure happens alot ,but yes used with some life still left is all i need not just a good hydro like some think when a tank life ends at 15 years ,some seem to think if a 2003 tank wich life ends this year 2018 has hydro good for 5 years that the tank is good for another 5 years ,that would be wrong 15 year is it ,an many guys in the pcp on ebay or from ,have ticking time bombs i think ,couse guess what they can fill them there shoe box compressor ,or going to refill guy that looks the other way ,though they should just make them good for 30 years an sell them for pennies on the dollar ,lets face it for fire safety they should not cost so much ,much less for pcp

What is the cost for the 5 year recertification?
@tylerpatner6591
@tylerpatner6591 6 жыл бұрын
Digital Wave has told me that the recertification testing on the 5 year intervals will be similar to a hydro test, so in the $30-40 range most likely. Of course, you'll need to factor in shipping the tank to them as well.

So IMO the price is too high on these tanks unless you live close to DW. because after 5 years you would have to pay to ship it to DW and then pay whatever the test fee that they charge is (and i bet the fee they charge is alot. Its most like sky high expensive. Not nowhere near the inexpensive 30bucks it cost me to take my tank up the street for rehydro test) So taking all that into consideration No Thanks... Im Good. Ill stick to eBay for my tanks and the shop up the street for my hydros. If you know what your doing concerning eBay tanks thats the best route to go IMO. (There are also ones auctioned from fire depts. you can find great deals on If youre so inclined) For Someone that lives near DW and wouldnt have to ship the tank back and forth it may be worth it to get one of these. depending also on how much DWs reHydro test fee is. Also if DW extends life on tanks for private customers it may be worth going that route as well just depending. I just really dont think the prices these tanks are going for are worth it. Not for me anyway. Of course i would never pay $300 for a ninja ci pony bottle ither and ALOT of people do. So to each his own. Great Info. Tho... Thanks for Sharing. You get a like for your video from me. Bongos need work tho. Keep bangn them. Hehe. Shoot Safe and have a Blessed Day.

DW told me the recert each 5 years will be comparable to a hydro (which is different for everyone), last one cost me $40. They said between $30-40 plus shipping. And quite frankly, shipping shouldn't be too bad to get the tank to them since you'd be sending the tank empty (no hazmat fees). I agree, you can certainly get some good deals on used tanks, but I remember when I got started with PCPs 7-8 years ago, I bought a tank with 3 years left and the fill assembly for about $300. The fill assembly total value is around $150, so I guess that's not bad, and I still use it. But a little over $300 for a 45 cu ft tank with 9 years of life left and the fill assembly is a very solid deal if you ask me, I wish these had been around when I first started with PCPs. It's all about bringing the cost of entry into airgun shooting down, and we hope that this helps....I think it will.

What would you do if you accidentally drop a tank? Either on the valve system or the bottle wall itself? And thees no evident damage like leaks and such?
@tylerpatner6591
@tylerpatner6591 6 жыл бұрын
If you suspect there is structural damage, you'd want to send it in to be re-tested to be certain. At the very least, a visual test. But keep in mind, these tanks are made to handle the rigors of firefighters running in and out of burning buildings. They can take quite a bit of abuse, not that you should test that.

still way to much money 200.00 less sounds like crap to me ,at say $50.00 a year i would rather buy a used tank that has 3 years left on it for $150.00 vs $750.00 ,so they seem to me add there cost to reman the tanks ,your basically spending the same amount ,not buying this one ,again would rather buy another used tank in 3 years ,for $100.00 buy then
