I tried this on my W169 A class and the only control units it successfully reads are the ME-SFI motor control unit, the ESP system and strangely the parktronic system but every other module is unavailable. Not bad for such low cost that you can actually successfully use a cheap Toyota VCI to at least access the most important modules but I'm now going to try a Tactrix Openport 2.0 (clone) as I've heard they will read more modules and a genuine could potentially be as good as am actual multiplexer

Which version xentry did you install? And is your openport have black or green circuit board? Black ones are latest model. Edit: I thought you used openport 2.0. I got xentry 2018 with openport and see quite a lot of modules on my c219 CDI, 2009.

Is this method also possible for the older models W208 and W210 with the 38-pin diagnostic port? A converter to 16-pin OBD is available. Maybe the problem are the K-Line (one diagnostic line for each control unit) or is there a protocol issue? Would be great to not be dependent on the c4 multiplexer, which, as far as I've heard it, switches between the control units. Thanks for your reply and your great work here on YT!

What isn’t mentioned is, this mini vci isn’t designed for merc, it’s designed for Honda and Toyota. As his merc is a pre 2007, it’s only communicating over Kline and not can. Many units will be missing. This unit is not the best or most stable, the video keeps skipping. He’s after charging for remote installing merc software.

Except that the most of the Mercedes before 2006 communicate in K-Line.. Thanks anyway for your videos which help a lot of people.. HighFidelityFox I was able to do this, need to go to rear Sam module and initialize it, I will ask you some options if the car and once you go thru it it will work. If something doesn’t work you pick the wrong options start the initialization again good luck

Your asking four questions , there is only two version. Xdos is for c4 or similar, merc proprietary adapter and passthru which can use a variety of passthru devices...I.e. openport, vas5054a, mini vci, with the right driver of course

well update , the 2.0.1 driver from autokent worked , but in trying other stuff at same time the open port 2 from ali exprerss like 20-22 usd had better luck , seems to have faster responce in was able to get into more modules with out errors , either way this is for sure a SWEET DEAL thanks , i seem video years ago bought but gor busy , i final was able to help buddy with his work at his shop .
