Scotty, I am 69 years old, and in the Army, the Drill Sgt. told us to clean the windows in the barracks. He told me to rub the windows inside with left and right strokes. The outside of the windows would get up and down strokes. The purpose was that if the streaks did show up, you could tell right away if it was inside or outside that was the problem!

Scotty tips and tricks are just that. Shortcuts that do not last and very common advice. He appeals to the uninitiated and uninformed viewer. Comments like this are from someone who knows nothing about the vehicle they own. Solution: learn about how cars work and how your car/truck works specifically. Then mechanics can not "screw you". Do your research.
@josephthomas2226 Жыл бұрын
@@accurateapplianceelectroni9703 there are many GREAT and HONEST mechanics, but MANY studies have shown that there are a LOT of dishonest mechanics as well, who DO cheat people and rob them blind. KNOWLEDGE is power. so you are correct - do your own homework and learn as much as possible.

A wax covers, treats, and fills micro fissures in a surface. Nu Finish isn't a *natural* (carnauba) wax, but it's definitely a synthetic wax or a "cleaner wax" as it has some very very mild abrasive properties also. You've demonstrated an interesting use for it... I wonder if Rain-X would also cut down on wiper chatter.

Nice video, as usual, Scotty. My regimen is first of all rub the dry glass with OOOO grade steel wool, secondly, steam clean the windscreen, thirdly, dry off with a quality microfibre. Then you can add something like your recommended polish. Then steel wool gets all the rough bits off, the steam gets the fumes off and you can, if you wish leave it at that, oh, don’t forget to clean the wiper blades, or add a finishing product.

Just to let you know I tried NU Finish to reapply it on both my car and windshield decade's ago it's really best to use it only once on your car or body....because it does start to remove paint...or somehow becomes much less smoother if you apply a second coat.....done that on both my new truck and car applied two coast was no longer smooth as silk...my brother tried adding two coast and he's a clean freak....and turned out he was so aggressively applying NU Finish that he took paint off from his car or the clear coat that is finally applied in the new car paint finish from the car manufacturers. So ONE heavy coat( for the year ) gingerly applied to the body of the car will Work amazingly😀😀.....as far as glass....no problems there😀😀👍👍

If you use Rain-X you can usually turn your wipers off when you go fast enough and the wind will blow the rain off quickly.
@ChrisPollard5 жыл бұрын
I became a solid Rain-X convert YEARS ago. My wife thought I was nuts, but now SHE is the one who gets crazy if she gets into a vehicle that doesn't have it, like work vehicles. It would be the same principle as the polish tip here ... reduce friction, increase water beading, make it easier for water to roll off. Unless it's a fine mist on the highway, I generally don't even use my wipers. When I have to start turning them on, it's time to re-apply.

Hey Mr Scotty, I had been watching your videos and following your channel for a very long time, I learned a lot, I live in Brooklyn NY and I decided to give it a try to the NU Finish for my windshield, let me tell you it was A REALLY BAD IDEA! I travel to work at 4 am and the combination between little rain and some salt on the streets for the winter equals bad visibility, it was so bad that I had to pull over and clean my windshield, the oncoming traffic would blind me, and driving back home the sun made it almost impossible to see, I rather deal with noise than not being able to see.
