“Motivated by forces they don’t quite understand, a portion of every salmon generation strays from its home river. I see myself in that.”
Betsy Krier, Wild Salmon Center’s Salmon Habitat Specialist on Washington’s Olympic Peninsula, traces her journey from Wisconsin to Forks, Washington.
Betsy’s like a lot of people in the international salmon conservation movement, laboring behind the scenes on behalf of coalitions and local partners. But her inner drive is the fuel that keeps the conservation engine going around the North Pacific. Her story and many more like it are what motivate us and inspire us to soldier on, even when the odds are against us.
Betsy’s piece was filmed on location in Forks, on the traditional territory of the Quileute Tribe.
