My dad had this song on a CD in his truck and everytime I got in I would make him play. This was and still is one of my favorite songs. I remember my parents recording a segment of the CMTs where they sang this song just so I watch it over and over.

Dream Academy wrote this song about Nick Drake. Who was discovered in the morning by his mother. He had taken an overdose due to increasing depression as his albums were not doing too well. It was not until after his death that people took notice.

As someone who grew up with JRFM (country radio), and who's used to groups like this, I say screw you haters! Sure, maybe the original is good, but really, it all depends on what you're use to! As an analogy, going from a book to a movie, or vice versa is the same. If you read the book first, USUALLY you'll prefer the book. It's the same with songs like this. So come on guys, just stop the hate and appreciate some goods music.

I'm doing this song in choir, and if I showed you in a video response the lyrics that's it's "hey ah ma ma ma he lid n nye ah" (as in not supposed to be actual words) will you correct it? I understand your need for proof, and choral version is accurate.

Brittany, wanna place a bet? At 1:40 she sings "It was the winter 1963." The lyrics on the screen read, "He said, "In winter 1963."" But wait, it gets better!! As that line continues, she sings words that are different from what is on screen; she sings, "It felt that the world would freeze," while the lyrics on the screen read, "It felt like the world would freeze." So in just *one* half of *one* sentence in the song, she sings words *two* *times* that don't match what's on the screen. Do you have trouble listening and reading at the same time or something? In the end, it doesn't matter what they sing, because it's a hideous version of a wonderful song.

why would a band deserve a 'lyrics' video on you tube (or anywhere) when they did not write the song or the lyrics. I think I'll do a cover of Hotel California and say lyrics by me. Give credit to the original writer, not to someone who does a cover... This song was written and made huge by Dream Academy, it was a song dedicated to the memory of Nick Drake.
@reseirs7 жыл бұрын
The term "lyrics" refers to who penned the song. I think you should change the title of the video to add the word "cover" and also add "Dream Academy" since it's their song. It's the right thing to do. I'm not going to get into the argument about whose version is better, but when it comes to song lyrics, the original creator should always get credit. That way, young people who come and click this video for the first time don't start to think that this was Sugarland's song and that they wrote it. It's not cool.
@reseirs7 жыл бұрын
If this is an AUDIO then remove the lyrics from the video and remove the word LYRICS in the title, which wrongly attributes the lyrics to Sugarland

The original version is about 1000000 times better ... there's something about this couple of decade's music production and singing that just seem so greasy, unsophisticated and pretentious ... they take out everything that makes a song unique, innocent and force a formulaic sound to it ... its like all songs just fit into a few generic sound and kids are conditioned to think it has to be like this to be "good" ... what a stupid generation .. sorry kids, you're missing out on some precious things in life that people of the previous generations had..
