The old joke goes that Helsinki central park starts from Töölönlahti and ends in the northern border against Norway. Technically you could walk straight north and be in a forest all the time.

Congratulations on your new project. I’m very interested in seeing the places you visit, especially as both my parent’s family came from eastern Finland and most have remained in those areas ….that is, after they had to move west from the now Russian side when my parents were both about 10 years old. Then only my parents left Finland after a couple of years of marriage. Smaller towns like Kotka and Hamina are nice in the summer, and of course Savonlinna, further north is full of interesting places. Funny, but I only have memories of visiting family in Lappenranta, but not the town, so I look forward to you showing us around.

Seriously, Helsinki seems the chillest capital in the world :) Thank you for mentioning keskuspuisto, I am actually planning my trip to Finland right now and I'm reaserching the hiking spots in Helsinki and Turku areas :) This one looks promising as I probably will be in Helsinki only for one day.

You will find plenty of options for hiking, especially if you drive :)

Your food looked nice. I'd replace bacon with wheat protein or smoked tofu. What was that yellow stuff you put in it just before soysauce? Mustard?

That was ginger.

At 4:37 you can see some Civil War bullet holes from the "white" side. Reds would have been on the opposing side of the bridge.

Would be cool to see you cover a professional pesäpallo game (Superpesis league) and compare it to baseball in Japan. It seems to be more popular in northern parts for some reason.
@DAIKIFinlandLife4 ай бұрын
That's an interesting idea. Gotta check where to see the game. I have no idea :)
@ilmarinen794 ай бұрын
@@DAIKIFinlandLife According to the league site (superpesis - just add .fi - Finnish only, but google translates pretty well) the upcoming games are at Hamina, Joensuu, Kouvola, Alajärvi, Rovaniemi, Hamina, Tampere, Kitee...Though personally, I think it might be a good idea to see a game when there is more at stake, like during finals, which are in September I think. I still have yet to experience a game live, so that is my personal plan at least :)
