I just completed a 10 day detox cleanse in Rwanda. Looking forward to moving to the Caribbean in the next six months and I’m excited about visiting Grenada and this resort.

so wonderful would love to visit. Lovely to see that as black women we no longer have to fulfil the role of martyr or big mama in the kitchen just giving and giving and depleting ourselves to zero for everyone else in vain that Jelani is providing this safe space and Zoe is interviewing good vibes #its our time to shine

This interview was everything to me!!! I have definitely added Grenada to my bucket list now. I love that she actually cares about the people and the community. She is being thoughtful with her planning and building a legacy. I'm also sold on the retreat. It sounds like something I could use every few months or so, a good reset. -Trishe

I love these videos. Hi, Jelani and Zoe. I know Brooklyn very well too! Are the hills of Grenada a significant obstacle for people who are even slightly mobility-challenged as compared to Barbados? How do returnees and expats feel about the costs of living in terms of their budgeting? Do you have similar videos of areas of Grenada that aren't so hilly, that might be more walkable for those of us who can't handle the hills, etc. and which might be closer to amenities within walking distance?
@ExodusCollective Жыл бұрын
Hi yes Grenada in general is very hilly, not like Barbados which is relatively flat. The cost of living here is generally high too.

There is a less hilly place in Grenada. In the north of Ireland called planes. In st Patrick's. But there are not so many shops. Just a supermarket, as disco and some garages.

I want to live my late fathers dream and go see where my ancestors came. The oral history is so strong. I want to know what my great great grandfather had to leave behind. It must have been beautiful for the oral history to last for so many generations
@ExodusCollective Жыл бұрын
That's beautiful. Where are your ancestral roots?
@ourblazingworld Жыл бұрын
@The Exodus Collective a sugar cane plantation near a river that fed the sea. The owner had a friend / relative in Louisiana that was having trouble in his plantation here named Cinclare Plantation. My great great grandfather was sent here to help that plantation and was promised he could return to Grenada but it never happened. So he got a new wife here and started a new life best he could. But he told all his children about the beauty of Grenada and the river they could walk down until it reached the sea.
@ExodusCollective Жыл бұрын
@@ourblazingworld oh wow, that's such a touching story! What was your great great grandfather's surname? You should join the Grenada Genealogical Society on Facebook. I have a hunch you may be able to find distant relatives (it's a tiny island). facebook.com/groups/GGHSonline/
@ourblazingworld Жыл бұрын
@The Exodus Collective we thought it was Williams but I have seen some documentation where our names were transposed, so it could have been Henderson or Bartholomew LOL!!! But each generation used the name Henderson Bartholomew Williams and the us census takers did whatever they felt like doing with those 3 names... sigh.. Thanks for the fb group url!
@ExodusCollective Жыл бұрын
@@ourblazingworld you're welcome. Henderson is a lot less common surname in Grenada so hopefully you'll have some luck!
