The Cholistan nomads are famous for their skillful survival, adaptive nature and efficient utilization of the minimal resources at their disposal.
for water arrangements there are number of ponds constructed or some are naturally formed for harvesting rain water, all tame and wild animals drinking water on same ponds, under ground water is not able to drink in some areas and are very deep to drill, however some areas have under ground drinkable water too,

In USA where I live, people are now beginning to realize the beauty of living like this in Mud Houses, in America they call them Cob House, and use Solar panels for electricity, use water wells, and grow own food and animals. People in US and Europe are beginning to realize that simple is better. I would like to live like this in US, with a Mud House. Insha Allah.

They should grow prickly pear there. I live in country Victoria, Australia, and the climate is semi-arid. I grow prickly pears on my farm. Prickly pear fruit are delicious and very nutritious and the pads can also be eaten, by both humans and animals. They grow very easily, just plant the pad or a branch in the ground and give it a bucket of water, in one month, even in this climate, it will make roots and grow! They also provide shade and can form a protective hedge against attack from bandits, and they improve the soil as well! Everything thrives around prickly pears, and they would grow here.

@@VillageINSIDER92 Goats love prickly pear pads, and so you will have to protect them when they are young from the livestock. But when they are big (they can grow to be 10-15 feet tall!) the goats won't destroy them as the palatable young pads tend to grow at the top. They can be planted close together (3 feet apart) and if you plant them like this, they will form a tight hedge that can be used as an animal enclosure or protection for the house. The best species is Opuntia ficus indica, they produce the best fruit and a mature tree will produce 10-30 kg of fruit, twice or sometimes three times a year! Like I said, the fruit is delicious and when boiled dissolves into a sugary, rich, delicious cordial. You can eat the boiled pulp or you can feed it to the chickens, they love it and do well on it. Also, the chickens like to eat the chopped up boiled fruit skins. The only downside is the fruit and pads have very fine prickles called glaucids, that are very irritating to the skin. You should pick the fruit with tongs and then dip them in boiling hot water for about a minute. This dissolves all the spines and after that they can be picked up with the hands with no problems, peeled and eaten or the fruit taken out of the water, peeled and the pulp put into another pan to cook and make the cordial mentioned above. God Bless, I hope you find this plant. If you cannot find ficus indica (also known as Indian fig, Nopal, Tuna Cactus), all of the Opuntia cacti have edible fruit and pads, but ficus indica is the best, the fruit are most delicious. Other opuntias have bigger fruit which are not as yummy, or smaller fruit which are more delicious but are a lot of trouble to process because they are so small.

One of my ancestors come from the Punjab, BTW, during the 19th century. We think probably a British Soldier raped a local woman and she had a baby or maybe she was a prostitute. but she had a baby and the baby was left on the doorstep of a Christian Mission. The Missionaries raised up this little baby girl and when she was a woman, she was married to a British Officer, who was the son of a Noble Lord. He took her back to England, but the family were very racist against her and so they emigrated to Australia. Some of my family look very Punjabi, although I look more English, I tend to think like an Indian and have the gift of the Second Sight, which I have heard that many Punjabis have. I am a Christian, but I love Punjabi Culture, and have always danced in their manner, ever since I was a little girl, even though at that time, I didn't know about Punjabi dance.
