Funny the way the universe provides - randomly, your channel came up on my feed a couple of weeks ago... I am also at that point in my life where it's time to do what I want to do, and I have the space now to do it. I was in Japan last January, visiting my youngest, who was studying at Uni as an exchange student. I absolutely loved it. I have had the opportunity to travel to many, many places, but this trip had such a huge impact on me. I find your vlogs really motivating to take the leap and work out where I want to live and how I want to live. As you said, the kids are well off living their dreams, it is now time for me to live mine. Thanks!

Hello Chani. Watching your videos brings back a lot of memories when I lived in Japan for 17 years in the Chugoku region - I started in Yamaguchi, then Hiroshima and ended up in Shimane. I am currently a Japanese teacher in Melbourne and I find your videos a valuable resource for my year 11 students as they are studying the topic of city vs rural Japan. I hope you can continue to create more content as it provides a quite realistic picture of what life in Japan is like right now. Thank you!

How wonderful and brave to go back to something that you enjoyed. I love seeing you adventure. Love the trash truck and kerosene truck. Please continue sharing your adventures. Years ago I married into a family who had adopted Korean children. The one thing I remember is Kimchi and how much it smelled. But now many decades later I am back into that interest and cooking Japanese, Korean and Vietnamese foods. It is so fun. I may be 74 yrs young but I can certainly still learn. Hi Chani! You are truly an inspiration. I am in my mid-40s and share your passion for Japan. I have been trying to find a job there by looking at job ads online, but I always seem to hit a wall. My lack of Japanese language skills, as well as the fact that English is not my native language, has made it much more difficult for me to find work in the country. However, watching your videos has reignited my passion for Japan. I sincerely hope that you will always remain positive, never give up, and find what you are looking for in life. You are such an inspiration and the fact that you don’t really live your life by what other people think of you is the key to happiness. People have little idea that we need our own space and need to follow our own path. It’s very interesting getting an insight to the little things we do daily but over there and your relaxed and easy going channel vibe is lovely - simple, friendly and above all really relatable. I have been watching a lot about Japan and it’s amazing culture and the level of respect in everything that it does. Such a stark contrast to the rest of the world and the way things are going, this is even more apparent. Keep the lovely videos coming!

One of the great misconceptions of life is that there is a "right time" to do a particular thing. If you wait for "the right time" to do something like choose a career, a place to live, or have kids, you may find that time never comes. It is often better "to just do it," and adapt your life to that new situation, come what may. For myself, people thought my choice to move to Japan was ludicrous, that I was leaving a good life in a good place for something foreign and unknown. I've always been an impulsive person, but, for the most part, the results of my impulses have been positive than negative, and I've done much better in Japan than I have any right to expect.

Simple is Best - I enjoy your videos because of their simplicity. Maybe it's because I'm an Aussie too (not sure), that I also find fairly ordinary things of interest. Japan, for myself and my lovely partner, is THE number one place to travel to for holidays. We love exploring, especially outside of the big cities. We had friends recently holiday in Japan and travel about the countryside around Nagano in a camper (Winnebago style), and they loved the travel, the people, the food & the countryside. But of course! Thank you for your efforts in presenting your Japan to lots of people.

Hello from USA Your channel popped up on my screen thru you tube algorithm . Loved your video. Is there any intro video where you talk about yourself and your family background , education , work etc , your hobbies if you like to cook or garden, travel, read etc. When you said you were stuck in a rut, was it job related or family and life related. Because then many women will connect with you instantly. Especially those who have got divorced or their spouse passed away, or are still single and didn’t find the right person. Looking forward to your videos . Wish they were a bit longer. You are truly an inspiring person who can motivate others to make that decision and take the first step.

A relative taught English in Osaka, she loved the kids BUT if something went wrong often the foreign teachers were under the hammer, but the experience was rewarding. Its such a Bonus that you are fluent, i know 2 words "Ohayōgozaimasu" and "Arigatō" so i would b like a fish out of water.

I stumbled upon your videos today and just wanted to say thank you for sharing your experiences and insights! We have relatives over at Shikoku and I used to spend summers there. Life in the countryside is really much more chill compared to the city and I’m always dreaming of being able to live in the countryside when I retire. Looking forward to watching all your videos!

Keep moving. Great job. Interesting topic. Unusual but very straightforward way of reporting what life is like in Japan from the perspective of the person who is there. Very detailed information. Marvelous work. Warm greetings. I watch your shows about Japan. I also watch programs of Japanese people who emigrated to Central Europe. I understood a lot by comparing your experience with that of a native Japanese who emigrated from Japan.

I relate so freaking much to "hibernating inside" and "buying cake because I can, so why not" 😂It's one of the perks of being an adult... And I agree so much about all the little things that make Japan, Japan! It's such a different culture, and that's what I love about it

Happy Hinamatsuri day! The cake looks yummy and it is said that the girls who have some Hinamatsuri sweets will have good lucks, as you may have heard. I had some, too😊 It seem you are very much accommodated to the Japanese style meals; Umeboshi, Shibazuke cucumber pickles, and Korokke😊Or, maybe these are now easily available outside of Japan.

Hi Chani I’m from Melbourne living here for 21years. it’s incredible story to know about your move to Japan. It’s facinating as I’ve been contemplating to do the same at some point in time. I’m Visiting Japan in 2 weeks time with my partner for the 3rd time and would love to grab a coffee if you’re keen. Lots of love from Melbourne. ❤

"You know what? I'm gonna have cake for lunch - because, I can!" I love it! The perks of being an adult - we have to pay bills but it also means we can have cake for lunch so in the end it balances out. I like your videos and look forward to the next one. Don't feel nervous, your videos are interesting and pleasant to watch!
