Hey that's amazing! How was the whole process of doing a 7/8 year program?

@@JasonKrastein I did the early selection program my sophomore year, 8 year program. I do have some friends doing the 7 year BA/MD. A neuroscience BS requires a lot of credits so I can’t imagine doing my undergrad degree in 3 years 😅. Super excited to have no gap years, and the application process was great. I almost didn’t apply out of fear but I’m so glad I went for it. I loved all the administrators I met. I’ve been happy so far at GW and I think I made a really great decision :-)

@@JasonKrastein Hi, Jason. Hmm, I’d love to see how you approach studying/study resources, time management especially for hobbies outside of medicine, typical days are like? That’s all I can think of for now 😅 Also, I’ve seen Lecturio advertised a lot. Have you used this before?

I have my main staples that I eat every day for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. How has your meals changed since the days of RAMEN?

@@JasonKrastein Back when I went to nursing school (a long long time ago), it was really challenging and difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle - at least for me. You have varying clinical hours (rotating shifts) that it messed up my workout routine as well as the stress of having rotating clinical hours (day/nights). We follow our preceptor's schedule thus the rotating clinical hours. There are a few disciplined folks in my cohort that are better in managing it but I can tell you that the majority struggle to maintain it. I mean I was excited even if I had a day of gym time. So kudos to you for having your staples of food and consistent 'routine.' It's so easy to lose track and go out and eat out when you are tired from doing stuff with school and clinicals. And then on my last semester of nursing school, I had a better consistent clinical schedule that I joined Crossfit and got me back to my workout routine.

Yeah it’s definitely easy for me while we are in pre clinical and it’s all lectures. I’m sure all this will change once I am in rotations. How do you like CrossFit? I’m debating joining a gym

@@JasonKrastein I really enjoyed CF. However, I wanted to just reiterate that I'm not one of those folks who is married to the 'cult.' -- that's is all they talked about 🤣🤣 I know my body's limits and I go in - do my workout and appreciate what it does for me. Other than it's just a workout. Further, the workouts are often hard but it's definitely gratifying for me especially for a stressful day. Good option for you is join Planet Fitness - cheaper (think $9 ) esp if you are under budget. But if you have a gym in your complex, just use that since you are going to be broke for many years with all the student loans. And residency doesn't pay a thing also🤷‍♂😂😂😂

Haha yeah people definitely love to the point of cult like admiration. But I’ve heard the benefits are amazing. We have CrossFit gyms here but they are so expensive

@@JasonKrastein yes....but honestly the first season is the best! get my first batch of teaching residents next monday the 19th...

@@JasonKrastein yes...but you know the dynamics of the clinic will be interesting...on the one hand its a required rotation at our hospital for all 2nd year residents....and it sandwiched right next to their 2 weeks of night float...so intense for 2 weeks, and then "chill" endocrine rotation with myself...I think that works.
