This chat really brings a smile on my face. The respect & acceptance of another culture or individual, do bring on the sense of freedom. It's liberating. I think we all have these qualities in us. Thank you both of you.🙏

Excellent guest. Love Brighton. Have watched his channel for a while now. He's a sweet, positive guy with a beautiful spirit, just like you have. Outstanding statement...."The cost of Freedom is acceptance." So true. We're gonna hear some loud music some times, and we can crank ours too. Accept it and embrace it. I learned over two years of home construction that things simply don't go as we expect in the US. It's slow. Communication is slow. Everything is slow. It's the Mexican way. That's why I have almost zero stress as soon as I cross that border and why I love it in Mexico. So, i'm trying hard to assimilate, slow down and accept that beautiful way of life.

I always appreciate you joining in the conversation Rick, thanks for tuning in, and sharing your experience too. I love that we've all found a place that really works for us and contributes to our wellbeing rather than taking from it. Cheers to the Mexican way, and to Freedom!

Muy bien a ti por apprendiendo Espanol Roberto! Probablamente tu sabes, cuando personas tiene mas anos, ellos dicen ellos no pueden apprender, but you can, and you did, great job!! If there's another pandemic, keep your ears open for opportunities to get your Temp Residency with no financial requirements. That's how I got mine ~ 3 years ago. I was very lucky, because I didn't have the finances to qualify either.

Brighton brought me here!!! I just subscribed as I need some of your good vibes in my life here in DFW. I found your story inspiring. And I too let my hair "go natural" in 2020 but yours is better (maybe because of your pure lifestyle) which is why I am writing... I'd love for you to do a video on your way of eating (notice I didn't say diet lol). I know you are a yoga instructor but feel you have more to share about health/fitness. It was nice to meet you today :).

Yeeahh Brighton!! Haha, welcome in sister, thank you for your message! I would love to make a video about what I eat (I feel ya on the diet word lol ;) and maybe by extension of that, a bit about the healthier lifestyle I'm living now, because you nailed it, I'm brimming with info on health & wellness. It's honestly what I most wanted my channel to be about, but I got sidetracked because, well, basically the viewers steer the car and they love hearing about off grid life. But thanks to you, I just might indulge myself (and hopefully you!) in a health & wellness video this week :)

Did you use a mortgage or buy cash? If I need a mortgage, do I need to finance through Mexico or through USA?

Hello: I've been watching your videos on & off for the last couple of years. I was born & raised in So. Cali. Until lately I didn't know I could have dual citizenship & just obtained it early this year. I'm going through the process of obtaining my father's property as he left no Will. My Mexican cousins are all over me with plans & ideas to do with the property, but I just want a low-key simple life with a small house & small piece of land to garden. I'm going to the Guadalajara outskirts in a few months to sell off his equipment & see what I can do to stay in Mexico without being scammed & gringo priced to death. My question to you is where do you start or find out who to trust when there is no way to conduct a background check or get recommendations? Thank you
@BlueSkySanctuaryBaja
@BlueSkySanctuaryBaja 3 күн бұрын
Well, my first question to you is, why is there no way for you to get recommendations? They're pretty much essential. In my opinion, the only way to find good people to work with that you can trust is to be here, talk to people in the community, and then meet the people they refer to you, and go from there. You have to trust your gut intuition & judgement of people, but if you're not here in person that's pretty much impossible to do. If you're not living in the community where your father's property is, and you have Mexican family who have plans for it, and there's no will, I'm sorry to say it sounds to me like you'll be fighting a losing battle.

My biggest concern is heartbreak for all the street dogs. I'd have to try to bring them all home and I know that's not possible. I guess you get used to it but it's a worry for me.
@BlueSkySanctuaryBaja
@BlueSkySanctuaryBaja 7 күн бұрын
It's a legitimate concern, because yes, heartbreak is inevitable. It's only a matter of time before you'll see something you'd rather not see, but in most cases you'll be able to have a positive impact, so that's the saving grace. 'A life lived in fear is a life half lived' is one of my favorite quotes. You have to follow your own heart, and don't let fear alone make your decisions for you.

Personally, I feel like Baja is just an extension of California and without limits for duration of stay it's going to have too many foreigners for my taste driving around in their expensive RV's. Rather live in a real pueblo in the mainland, I chose Lo De Marcos Nayarit and Chapala Jalisco as my combo.
@BlueSkySanctuaryBaja
@BlueSkySanctuaryBaja Ай бұрын
What gave you the impression there are no limits for duration of stay here I wonder? Baja has the same limitations as the rest of Mexico as far as travel visas ect.. I do see a lot of those fancy small Mercedes campers around, I get what you're saying, but at the same time there are countless 'real' pueblos all through out Baja too, of course. Glad you found a few spots in Mexico that you genuinely enjoy.

After saying you would rather live in a real Mexican pueblo without "too many foreigners for my taste" you mention two places that very well known areas that have long become over run with foreigners. In the Chapala and Ajijic area you could speak nothing but English without ever having to learn one word of Spanish or even have to think about assimilating to the Mexican way of life. A "real" Mexican pueblo? No me parece! Buena suerte con eso!

Mexico is a large and diverse country and we all have different wants and needs. I appreciated this video as these two exude the joy one can experience when they find a "fit". We have the same experience every time we return to Puerto Vallarta, our half time home. Costs are rising, it is getting more crowded, and bureaucracy exists, but to us it is home. It isn't lost on us how lucky we are to be in such a beautiful place.

@@kat7544-t1h Thanks so much for weighing in. I'm always grateful when viewers share their perspectives directly with other viewers. Then it's more of a community having a conversation rather than just me (or Brighton haha) repeating our points of view over & over. Congratulations on finding the right spot for yourselves in PV! I agree, we're very fortunate to have a place in this incredible country, pura vida.
