In 1983 I had the chance to go to Poland for the first time. It was with a truck bringing aid to the people there. It was a very special experience. After waiting for hours at the border between BRD and DDR, and then again after hours waiting at the Polish border and unloading half of the goods for ‘inspection’ we finally arrived in the country. Then the ‘adventure’ started. No highways and lots of milicja. It was a terrible time, and you explain it well. Later I went a few more times with the organisation to bring help to Poland. Then I started to go on my own, with my first (second hand) car… I learned the language, and travel to many places in Poland. It’s such an interesting country! At that time, I needed a visa, had to change money at the border (a certain amount for each day you planned to stay), and I had to buy ‘coupons’ so that I could buy fuel for the car during my trip. There were also special shops where you could buy things (vodka 😊) with foreign money (USD). Last trip was 1995. It was a really special time… Poland has developed so quickly after the fall of communism. Now I’m retired since a few years and I plan to travel again to Poland, by bicycle. Looking forward to eat sernik, bigos, żur, gołąbki, and all the great food Poland has to offer.

Thank you for sharing your experiences. I'm glad you're planning a bicycle trip to Poland again. Sernik and bigos are a must eat when in Poland - no doubts ;-)

Good job, fellow teacher! Watched until the end: I like the tempo of your presentation, the use of non-verbal communication and your explanations (for instance, the use of synonyms). Haha, and it's nice to see that I'm not the one who's videos (sometimes) turn out to be 30 minutes long (or even more!).
