What wry sense of humour prompted the posting of this, now? And how optimistic to think of nature recovering lost ground in our absence. That is a consolatory thought, to be sure.

When our town in NZ had deserted areas after our devastating 'quakes ('Red Zones'), it was interesting to see some of those areas 10 years later. Nature had taken over. Creatures abounded, including rats. Kind of beautiful.

“Optimistic” no it’s actually observed fact not optimism. You must be uneducated. There are plenty examples of this already. The areas around Chernobyl being just one.
