As an Aussie, the idea of 24/7 brightness and darkness are hard to get my mind around, even though I've been watching your videos for several years now! On another note, we've been able to see the Aurora Australis from some parts of southern Australia over the last couple of days thanks to the solar flares, and it reminded me of the northern lights in your videos 😊

Sensory overload! Every year I watch and I think to myself. I’d be speed cleaning my house at 3 am cos my brain wouldn’t shut off. I’d want to constantly look out at that view. I completely understand why you call it zombie season. Your brain starts thinking it’s going to miss something! Polar Day is gorgeous but I definitely get why you’re exhausted all the time. Enjoy your break!🥰

I was thinking way too much about this and I have come to this conclusion as well. I get very depressed/sick in Chicago from the darkness in winter. I know I could never handle Polar Night. But this... may be more mentally exhausting. Your brain associates light/day with activity. My mind races all the time anyway. This would make it never stop!

Having light-blocking covers on your windows that you put down at about 7pm, and putting your light switches on automatic dimmers that will simulate the sun setting, would do absolute wonders for your circadian rhythm during polar summer. 🙂 Once the lights are off, you can just use a warm task-light that won't keep you awake, and would be very cozy.

Thing is though, that you may still need or want to be outside to do stuff also after 7 pm. Few people stay completely indoors for 7 pm.

Our longest day is until 10 pm. And I love it! And I wish it was like that year round. In college, I learned to sleep whenever, even if all the lights are on or shades are open. Being happy it's beautiful and sunny, and you are on the green side of the earth as they say, it's good 24/7. 😎

I can TOTALLY relate Cecilia, I live in Alaska and it's the same, only our nearly 24hrs of daylight starts end of May. Currently we do have 2 hrs of "light dark, dusk" from 0130-330. I saw the northern lights all over the sky directly above Sheffield, England on Friday night. That's once in a lifetime. It was like pearly white ribbons of light stretched and spread right across the sky with a bright green glow over the Eastern horizon. Geomagnetic activity was that high, getting on 5000 nT.

I'm in southeast Georgia USA. Georgia does observe daylight savings times, so our clocks are bumped 1 hour up artificially since the first Sunday in March. That does give the impression that daylight lasts farther into the evening, though the sun rises seemingly earlier because of the brightness of the light at 5 am Eastern Standard Time. Because of these factors, we don't start to loose the light until nearly 9 pm this time of year. It is not nearly as an extended day of light as your have, but it does mess with our internal clocks. The "Daylight Savings" bump in time is due to an old WWII hang over, but our country has moved the start of this artificial bump in time earlier in the year (once was the first Sunday in May years ago) and farther into the fall (was first Sunday in September) so when we do bump up or down the time the natural daylight changes drastically compared to the "time" on our clocks. It is such a rhythm change. At least your daylight change is due to Mother Nature and not the government.

The day you are referring to when the sun doesn’t move at all is probably 22 June which is the day of Summer Solstice - the longest day of the year for most countries (I’m from Russia - so definitely the longest on our side of the world) and the peak of your midnight sun season ☀️ after that day - the countdown to another season begins 🌙

The sun in your part of the world doesn't get high enough to be out of your eyeline. Here in Ireland, it's May, and you have to lift your head high to see the sun. Your sun, at its highest, is like ours in March. No danger of sunburn, but sunglasses are a must. Enjoy !

I was VERY interested to hear that the sun stays in the same spot in the sky all day at the height of your polar day... but when I thought about it, it sounded logical. The star Polaris, the North star, seems to stay in the one spot all night. So why not the sun where you are.

That is incredibly beautiful. Everything looks so pristine; white glaciers floating by, white mountains, even the inside of your house is white! I wonder if the endless sunshine boosts your energy level? I tend to get tired when the sun goes down. I suppose black out curtains for sleep. It would be a very surreal experience, for sure, to have endless sun. Here in the states, we're experiencing Northern lights due to unusual solar activity. Aurora Borealis, I'd imagine must be more common in your region.

I got to see the northern lights in Kentucky this past weekend! It was so cool and incredible to experience something I thought I’d have to travel far away if I ever wanted to see them.

Beautiful footage of the sea and floating snow. And even more so of Grim. Svalbard was 'the' most beautiful hidden gem in the world until Cecilia introduced us to it. Now a lot of people are obsessed with it. And rightly so. Thank you for this beautiful video of a snowy Svalbard.

Here in Detroit, Michigan, out-of-towners get confused during the third week of June when the sun sets around 9:15pm, but the dusk lasts until almost 10pm. Cecilia, you do an amazing job hosting this channel. You are such a nice person, I would really like to visit with you in person and have lunch.

You are actually living a REAL version of the Sun, Cecilia. The Sun never goes down in reality...it is always there obviously. You get to see the TRUTH of that for better or worse. Great videos as always.

I am so thrilled that I got to see the Northern Lights in northern Colorado! They were not what I was expecting. But I thought of your channel when I saw them. It was blue and green. We could not see it with the naked eye. We did get photos.
