Please show us some Scottish traditions at Christmas time. How do people decorate for Christmas in Edinburgh?
@JenniferLaveryFBE4 жыл бұрын
From Glasgow here. We don't decorate the outdoors as much as you do in the US. For most, it's a tree and some lights in the window and something for the mantelpiece on the fireplace. In Scotland, Christmas traditionally hadn't been as important as Hogmanay and New Year, so we have a lot more traditions around that.

Shaun ,we all know being corraled and wearing a mask every time you are in contact with anyone else can be stifling. While The Highlands are magic and mystical surely sitting in the middle of Edinburgh has got to give you access to centuries of Scottish history. Also, I would personally be very interested in seeing a video about Scotts Gaelic.I know there are just a few people speaking it fluently todaybut it would be amazing to hear the life story of someone who has spent their life steeped in the old Scottish ways.

@@sarahwithanhyouheathen3210 - One of the things I realized by his NC500 series, is that we all live around there, in our own situation. from where ever we are, in our own condition. I don't know where you are from in the States, nor you I, but we all have a story to share, the point, which to me, is the greater part of what NC500 reveals. I imagine (I know), where ever you are from, you have a story to tell as well, mundane to you, as do I. I suppose that is the larger point, that others might find it fascinating, but I find it boring. BTW, I would love to do the NC500, but many other things as well. I have had many adventures all over these States, so I know they are everywhere. There is not a State that I haven't found fascinating, described to me as boring, by the locals.

Wow....the drone footage is amazing. I love seeing the road trips you take and understand how you find it hard to find inspiration being under lockdown. Seeing all the rubbish left behind at the old mine reminds me of how in my State of Colorado it is full of old Gold and Silver mines that were abandoned ages ago. When you see the scars on the mountainsides from old mining in the beautiful landscapes in Colorado it is so sad to see. The old mining operation you showed was sad showing tons of rubbish man has left to just rot. You would think the government would make them clean every bit of it out of there. I also liked seeing the inside of the old house and how rotten the wood is. Makes you think twice about buying some old house and finding your roof is being held up by worm eaten wood. Keep up the good work and your great new business venture. We love seeing anything you film.

So beautiful. Makes me wonder about how my ancestors left there and what ever became of all their family and friends they left behind in Scotland to come to America. Do I still have cousins there? I think probably, but in the 7 generations since, we have lost touch with anyone back there a long time ago.
@georgiawillis57874 жыл бұрын
Probably because back in the day, you couldn't own land, most people were crofters and were at the whims of the lords they worked for. In America they could own land and had more opportunities. And now most Americans can't afford to buy a house....

Hi Shaun! I love your videos. My husband and I have a trip booked to Scotland this June, barring continued COVID troubles. It’s a driving tour thru the highlands. You could do a comedy video of us trying to drive the car on the wrong side of the road and the wrong side of the car! (Wrong side to us anyway) We are from Minnesota and your lovely video of the highlands in the fall reminds me of home, except we don’t have mountains, but we do have some big hills. Keep up the good work.

Hi there. Great vid (as usual). Strontium was discovered in the existing mines in Strontian. It was named after the town (not the other way round). I hope Edinburgh makes it out of level 3 soon and back to 1, so you can return. PS It's worth driving over the hill to Polloch and taking a walk down the forestry road. Take care. 😁

Love anything you post. Show us the neighborhoods of Edinburgh. It's a lovely city.

Interesting thanks for sharing Shaun. Your view of the highlands countryside is just the content I needed to see.
