Jackals aren't native to the U.S. You probably meant to say coyotes. I'm glad you didn't encounter any of the wild animals, although they usually try to avoid humans.

You definitely didn’t get the best food available in Charleston. Especially the grits they served you. There are WAY better places to eat in Charleston to get low country cuisine. You got ripped off for that meal. If you come back to Charleston reach out to me. I’ll take you around and show you all the really good places and several hole in the wall places to eat. I’ll take you on tours too in an air conditioned car 😊

When you bite into a fruit that tastes like water, you're eating fruit that was harvested before being tree-ripened. That's a sure sign of fruit that was grown in Chile or California, picked early, shipped and then gassed to speed-ripen. Main grocery stores are guilty of selling these. Find your local farms, support them and purchase fruit from them in season. You won't be sorry~!

I recommend “Forgotten Allies: the story of the Oneida in the American Revolution”. Scot Presbyterian missionary Samuel Kirkland is highlighted as one who assisted and suffered starvation with the Oneida natives and is buried with Chief Shenandoah. He is one of the top reasons the Oneida fought and died alongside Mohawk Valley Patriots instead of siding with the Brits (as did the Loyalist Mohawk, Cayuga & Seneca).

Interesting that your last name is Alexander. That last name is exceedingly common here in DFW. It is particularly common in the eastern portion of the metroplex. Garland and on Eastward into Roy city and Greenville. Growing up, one of my dentists was a doctor MacAlexander. So, there’s that variant too. You might have family here. They either came directly from Scotland or, they came from Ireland as Ulster Scotts. Group of people Americans call Scott’s Irish. Lots and lots of them came here to Texas especially from Tennessee. Famous examples of people from that ancestry include David Crockett, James Bowie, Sam Houston, John Bell Hood and John Tyler. To give an idea of their prominence, we have a city of Houston, counties Crockett, Bell and hood and then, of course, there’s the famous bowie knife.

I live in Florida and those pelicans are not tame. Best to not try to hand-feed them. They appreciate the free meal but just toss them the fish if you want to stay in one piece. They get excited and might make a mistake.

Next time fly to SeaTac airport - Seattle/Tacoma - like you said, it's more like Scotland than the rest of the US and you'll feel right at home! :) We'll be happy to greet you and give you a chance to adjust to the time zones.

@@shaunvlog I actually love the weather. Inverness was so comfy in the cold weather. But then we stayed at the Royal Highlander Hotel which was grande. Edinburgh too. I loved the rainy days. Then there was the food in Skye and Portree where I would hang my Hat the rest of my Days if I could.

Having spent too many hours in the very boring little airport in Brunei I can sympathise! It was monsoon season at the time so leaving the air conditioned airport was not really an option, even though it was possible (I've no idea whether transit passengers need a visa).

Here in the USA, where we seem to get every kind of cold, I can agree with you that cold and humid really does feel colder in some ways. Extreme cold and dry will freeze your fingers and toes, but less extreme cold and damp seems to chill your whole body to the bone.

I can relate, mate. Spring of last year, I came over to visit Great Britain ... just as a transportation strike began. Instead of New Orleans to New York to London, I went from New Orleans to New York to Berlin to Vienna to London. THEN, as the atrike was still on, I was herded to an Uber to go to Ealing to where I was staying at about 2 am. Needless to say, my first day in Ealing was recovery. Good on you for keeping up your fitness! That can be easy to miss when you are traveling so. Keep it up, boss!
