I grew up in Townsville. My only recommendations would be dont live on Magnetic Island. Its great for a getaway, but catching ferries all the time because everything you need is on the mainland gets tiring. Lastly ask about what suburbs are safe, and what suburbs flood.

@@cheesypeasy123 Much safer than Sydney, there are a couple bad suburbs like Garbutt. When I did door2door sales, we went through every suburb over & over, and I've never felt in danger. There are just some places you probably don't want to walk around in at night. IMO Townsvilles a great place to retire, everything is 10-15 minutes away, virtually no traffic, and has the vast majority of things you get in big cities.
