Congratulations to Mr. Nieto and the many other graduates of the program. I'm gratified that this program has been a success, thus far. This video is gold. Thanks for uploading. Even as an atheist, I think this is a great idea as it helps instill hope; not false hope, but a way to achieve and maintain some sense of human togetherness. I just wish this could be spread about. Most people don't know about prison... Including myself. And I think this is a great disservice to our country and a failure of those of us who could help, but also divided by a culture hidden away from the bulk of society. I'm actually shocked the Warden was so compassionate. Perhaps this is a bias of mine from Hollywood and the like, but many Wardens of the past have not been the most, ... we'll say, "amazing" people. Corruption, collaboration for fraud & personal gain still needs to be dealt with; regulated perhaps by an authority. And...then too, I'm not happy about our nation having the highest incarceration rate, perpetuated by privatized prisons. This ends up corrupting the Justice system, which most people know is quite "unjust". I just hope the program continues to ease the tensions between prison employees and inmates.

I did 10 years in tdc(2000-2010). I never was able to become spiritual. I primarily worked on becoming accountable and having a plan when I got out. This worked great,but I have to say that men who take religion seriously, have a lower recidivism rate than other dudes. I don't understand why some people would be against anything that helps lower the recidivism rate. Respect for these guys who are trying to change their lives for the better

Well I was lost and found in jail . While in Harris county a inmate told me Jesus loves me . I haven’t even put my mat up on my bunk . The whole night I was thinking why god loves me . Till I picked the Bible up and started to read I started to believe in the word of god . I’ve hadn’t went back to prison since 2010 . I’m sober and got baptized at my church in Houston . The love of god is real .

I’m happy for those dudes. I met a dude with Mike Barber ministry’s he was serving a life sentence for murder & for his heart & life change he was out in 15yrs. God is amazing & im all for it. Congratulations to all that has this attitude. God Bless all.

I've got a brother that's been in and out of jail for the past seven years. I was there this last time that he ran from his bond. The bounty hunters came and got him all he had to do was show up in court and he didn't. He only had to sit 3 months and now could be facing 25 yrs. I am asking for prayers from anyone who will listen my brother is sick. He has an addiction to these streets and money an most of all to escape reality. Thank you Lord you are a powerful Lord touch my brother as he's going through this life asleep. He needs you Lord even if he is doubting you. I believe in Jesus name I pray Amen.

Did some years on Darrington in the 80's. Boss Bibby was my field boss. What a callous assed bastard. I guess all day on a saddle would make anyone callous. Wasn't too scared of him, it was that highrider with the 30.-30. Winchester about 60 yards off that I didn't like.

This was the original intent of a penitentiary...its why its called penitentiary
@SAIIX1002 жыл бұрын
Can you elaborate more?
@stevenserna910 Жыл бұрын
If I may... In the early years of the US, jails were designed as they were in England. Over time, the Quakers started creating prisons whose idea was to keep men locked in a cell so they could become, "close to God", or "penetant". Hence the word, Penitentiary. But like all things run by mankind, along the way institutions become corrupted. Texas Prison started as work farms simular to the southern US model common in the southern states. There was segregation, torture, and all the nastiness of before, but, endowed with the idea of, "freedom through work". They worked many to death, they worked a lot more to life (the rest of their lives). The rich could "rent" inmates from a county prison as "help" on their farms, or plantations. As time passed, more regimentation, laws, and facilities were established to hold more people. That is why TDC units are called, "farms". They are designed to be self-run, and self-sufficient. No noise or questions asked by state government, or anyone else. The farm Warden is god with boots, a cowboy hat, and a 357 magnum. His enforcers are Bosses in boots, hats, horses, and .30-.30 Winchester's. The Bosses herd you like cattle to and from the fields to "work 'em" hard. Try to run rabbit and the Outrider Boss plucks you with a .30.30 rounds to your backside. Tower Bosses got M16's to keep folks inside the fence; inside. Before too long, folks start getting used to their lives in the system, and it seeps into their minds and hearts turning them from bad, to rotten like bruised, putrid fruit. Then, one day..."Hat on Tight m/f" time to "catch that chain" to "The Walls" Unit for pre-release". Catch you soon, you'll be back. There was a saying, "Come to Texas on a vacation, leave on a probation, get brought back on a violation, get convicted and incarceration."

Sometimes you have to hit rock bottom so you can feel the rocks and God wakes you up and you realize that you are going down the wrong path and God delivers you from your sins like he delivered me from all of my sins I was doing. I felt those rocks at my most worst time in my life and I don't ever want to go back to or feel those rocks again at the bottom of rock bottom. So for everyone reading this I pray that God delivers you from whatever sins you might have committed and helps you realize that God and only God is the 1 and only true deliverer and I hope he helps to open up your heart and life to him and accept him as your personal lord and savior. Because God is the only way into heaven. TO GOD BE THE GLORY FOREVER AND EVER. AMEN !

It never ceases to make me laugh at how many people "find Jesus" in jail/prison. It's even funnier when it's someone that's a habitual offender. Reform the penitentiary system and you will more successfully reform inmates. Stop expecting some absentee cosmic paternal figure to fix things.
@santanav.45043 жыл бұрын
The "cosmic paternal figure" you speak about is the One in whom we live, move, and have our being. He's the Lord and he's changing hearts inside prison. Men don't need prison reform, they need to be born again from above. They need Jesus.

I know him. He’s full of crap. He talked about breasts and vaginas. And he cussed constantly. He made me feel uncomfortable on the phone. I do not think a true man of God would do that. Such a shame.
@stevenserna9102 жыл бұрын
Y'all need to shut that negativity down. If Jesus make a man better, then so be it. That TDC is nasty shit, anything a man can do to lift his spirit is what's important. TDC sure don't do it. If it did, there wouldn't be no 2 and 3 time losers. Y'all wanna glorify military guys, ok, I did time with 'em too and they wasn't shit when it came to squabbling. The navy, and air force guys got turned-out into women. Only the army guy, and marine guy knew to shut up and keep their business private. What reforms a man is his own desire to improve, prison got nothing to do with reform. TDC is state sanctioned revenge, and retribution only.
