Cool to see the improved lip sync and animations overall. Not something i usually complain about but the puppet like mouths of the second game were a contrast to the mostly beautiful visuals and incredible performances and kinda took me out of the experience a little bit in some of the more dramatic and emotional scenes.

Life is Strange and Tales of Arise releasing at the same time. It's gotta be Tales for me but I will revisit this one probably. Glad a lot a more above average games are releasing lately though. Psychonauts 2, Tales, this and some others. It's been a crappy year and this is good.

I played Life Is Strange on the timescale of the story (which takes place over a week) and I think this is the best way to experience it, so I don’t agree with the idea that waiting months between episodic entries is the way to go or that something is lost in having all episodes available right off the bat.

Great review, Huber. I quite liked this game, especially the change in gameplay at some parts although I do think it was lacking in puzzles compared to past games. Also, after making all the "right" choices on my first playthough, it shows that there are clear right and wrong decisions in the game which I don't necessarily think is a good design decision. I watched someone else play and make almost all the "wrong" decisions and it lead to some awkward disconnect for them with some scenes and dialogue. Extremely powerful scene in the last chapter for me personally though so I can't wait for more LiS and Steph's Story dlc, not to mention the spoiler mode with Elyse.

Before the storm is the best imho, followed by LIS. But I really loved True colors, its world and characters, it's right after LIS. Just wished it was longer (i think it would have helped if like BTS it had 3 and not 5 episodes so they wouldn't feel as short).

So happy they went back to focusing on a single location, after a strong opening, LiS 2 failed to create an environment you could immerse yourself in. It's why I really loved Tell Me Why, the small location really felt alive and you could really relate to how the siblings felt about their old home and tied into the theme about the subjective nature of memories.

MIGHT be my favourite life is strange game. It's tied for me between this and the first one. I also feel like this is the first time where they've really pushed the game design forward. I hate to be one of those "uhhh it's a video GAME" guys, but this game really is much more interactive than the rest. What you do (and don't do!) has much more consequence. It feels like a departure from the Telltale style of gameplay. There's less "this character will remember this" (though that is still there) and more organic storytelling. You are sometimes making choices that you aren't even aware of, in a way that reminded me of Shenmue of all things!

Plus there's a greater emphasis on rewarding you for exploring/engaging with the world. It's definitely... a different type of game than the first two. I can understand why that would be offputting.

I appreciate what Life is Strange as a franchise does to draw you into emotionally-charged stories and giving us an excellent set of youthful characters to play as, but the series should evolve into something more ambitious and audacious. The series is quite soft in spite of the hard-hitting subject matters and it's very much spinning its wheels as far as gameplay is concerned. I think LiS 2 took the most risk from a story standpoint by giving us something more urgent but none of the games have been particularly great to actually play.

don't know about this one man....🤨 to me this life is strange doesn't compare to the other 2 the pacing was horrible the storyline was like luster really boring at times and I really don't like how the trailer basically spoils the whole game I feel like Alex's powers are very inconsistent on what she can do and they're not as interesting as the first two powers also choices really don't affect much in the game the two romantic options kind of sucks because we never really get to spend enough time with them and the ending just makes me want to pull my hair out for how laughably bad it is but I DONT WANT TO SPOIL ANYTHING that being said they did an excellent job with the characters in this game and graphically it's very beautiful I just wish the storyline was more consistent and more interesting.....😢🥺 if I were to rate it it would be 6.5/10 or 3 out of 5 life is strange 2 is still the best in the series so far to me

It's super silly, but until record companies get their shit together and allow it then this is the unfortunate effect. They fought people recording music off the radio to cassette, they fought everything popping up in the Napster era, and now they're fighting this. But unlike the first two, hearing music on a video game that someone else is playing on the internet cannot seriously be hurting their bottom line in the slightest. What, do they think there's some 12 year old recording the song while their favorite streamer is playing and possibly commenting over the music? They need to get with the times. It makes them look completely foolish.

Hopefully not. The world is becoming too pedantic as a whole. Everything is supposed to be The Lord Of The Rings and have a detailed explanation for everything. I think that’s way more limiting than it is rewarding and it weighs down loftier themes with irrelevant baggage. The more things have to be explained, the more they become weighed down by boring realism and cliches that exist to have been proven to “work”. Chemical plant explosion. Indian burial ground. Aliens. Etc. None of those things enhance the themes.
