Also they kind of ignored the main story for half the game just to make drama around the main character being trans. It came off as too forced.

It looks more like the LiS TC appartment/condo/house, but then again, this is only part of the level, and maybe it's part of a house or mansion, or it's a living space on top of a restaurant, well I actually don't how big the level/space really is because I've never seen Tell Me Why (TMW) but if someone did see or play it, they'll know how big the level/place that woman is in.

tell me why isn’t as fast paced as the other games, but to me it’s still great. not to mention I have an obsession with tyler lmfao. to others who prefer faster paced games it may not be great to them, but the storyline and the characters and most of all the music & scenery is just amazing

Btw, I actually found this reference like the day that TMW Chapter 3 came out (since I was already aware of some "LiS3" (LiSTC) leaks by then). After LiSTC was announced, I mentioned this reference to a few people in hopes I could be lazy and they'd just make and post the video for me (I've gotten people to do stuff like this for a few other things in the past), but sadly I was forced to be non-lazy.

@@silentj624 I remember being slightly annoyed when trying to find the location of a memory to view. There's no indication of which direction it's in. Just a glow and you have to look around every which way. Other than that, I don't remember anything too awful about the controls. I played on Steam (PC), for what it's worth.

Honestly I like more Tell Me Why, the characters are complex and the story just feels more real than True Colors. I feel like True Colors has the story pretty similar to Tell Me Why (try to discover who is responsable for what happened- it's the same feeling). Because of this I feel that the story from True Colors is predictable

Nah. Don't think it's a reference. DONTNOD didn't even make True Colors. Tell Me Why should have totally been a Life Is Strange game. It would have sold much, much better if they just called it "Life Is Strange: Tell Me Why" or something like that

I know Dontnod didn't make True Colors, but I feel like the Captain Spirit game had some references to it (see: Water Eater), so it seemed plausible to me that another Dintnod game might as well. Honestly, though, I don't know, and I do lean toward this one just being coincidence now.

I feel like True Colors ripped off this and maybe parts of Twin Mirror. But my saltiness regarding the Square Enix/DeckNine/Dontnod dilemma aside, Tell Me Why was a great game that I feel a lot of the LIS camp didn’t play because I think it was XBox & PC exclusivity, and the storyline is more mature & adult. It could’ve been better in some ways I think, but the goblin book and puzzles were amazing, the power was interesting, and it was a beautiful story to explore, despite it being a very heavy one. I hesitate to call it “fun” because of that, but I found it to be an enriching experience.

Yeah, I can't really know for sure, but I've been suspicious as well. Like there was some initial idea for True Colors by Dontnod but they were moved away from the project by Square Enix and then Dontnod put some of the ideas they developed into TMW & Twin Mirror while Deck Nine modified the original TC ideas into their own version. But, again, I admit I have no real way to know if this is the case; it might not be.

Nevertheless, records are still significant to the game, so Alex working there wasn't critical to the idea that it might be a reference to LiSTC in TMW. I'm leaning toward it not being intended as a reference, but I don't really know for sure.

I'm well aware of the different developers and that it could be coincidence. I currently lean toward that it is a coincidence, but I just don't know for sure. The Water Eater in Captain Spirit (also developed by Dontnod) seems almost certainly like it was foreshadowing Ethan's monster at the end of Ch1 of LiSTC (which we know was Deck Nine).

Might not be intentional. But when I first saw it in 2020 I thought it would be. But that was before we knew much about how Alex's power would work. I like to joke that I found 120% of the foreshadowing in Captain Spirit for Life is Strange 2 bc I found much more than was probably actually intended. Although surely a lot was intended, I can't tell for sure in many cases if something was or wasn't. Snowmancer losing an eye? Definitely foreshadowing for Sean losing one due to Daniel's power. An ad for a gun show in the mailbox? It's a stretcg to saw it foreshadows the gun you can get in the safe in ep3, but it's not impossible. The Mar-T Rex (one of the hero toys of Chris) that "eats everything" representing Mushroom (who was found at a Mart)? The likelihood of it being intentional is somewhere inbetween, but I like to believe it is.

(1) It might not be an intended reference anyway. (2) Tell Me Why was released in Summer 2020. I don't remember when it first began work. (3) True Colors began work in 2018 or maybe 2017 - you can check the beginning of the announcement video for True Colors. I remember the Deck Nine guy gives the precise year in that. (4) Although True Colors wasn't formally announced until early-ish 2021, I'm aware of leaks about there being a record store & the power involving different colored emotional auras since late December 2019 - though I personally abstained from reading them until around May 2020.

I say it's conceivable someone at Dontnod knew about True Colors because of the Water Eater scene from Captain Spirit being so similar to the end of Chapter 1 of LiSTC. You can't tell me that monster doesn't qualify as a "Water Eater", and the purple fear aura matches perfectly too.

This is clearly a stretch. The dialogue is supposed to associate Alyson's depression and she wishes she can just change her mood to being happy as much as it's easy to turn on a record. If True Colors wasn't even announced, it is not possible to make a refrence.

I know what the dialogue means within the game, and I do understand I'm stretching a bit, but I think you overstate the extent to which I'm stretching. There can be references to games before they are announced to the public. For example, with True Colors, even though it was made by Deck Nine, there is foreshadowing for the end of Chapter 1 way back in The Awesome Adventures of Captain Spirit with the Water Eater, which was made by Dontnod. Additionally, the first leaks of True Colors I'm aware of were at the end of 2019, despite the game not being announced until early 2021. So, when I played this Chapter of Tell Me Why for the first time back in late Summer 2020, I was already thinking of it as a possible reference. I just didn't post a video about it back then because I wanted to respect Square Enix's wish not to spread pre-announcement info about the game. Again, I currently lean toward this specific thing NOT being an intended reference, but it's incorrect to say that it's not possible for it to be.

I doubt that DONTNOT would openly refere to LiS in that game, simply due to legal issues. Not, that they would get into trouble, but LiS does not belong to the same Publisher as this game does. So they can't simply melt the worlds together.

There was definitely a LiS1 reference in the back room of the grocery store when you look at a poster on the wall. If you haven't seen it, just trust me that it was a painfully obvious LiS1 reference. Or look for a video yourself. I think it was in Chapter 2 of TMW. Regarding publishers, LiS1 has the same issue as LiSTC in that it is has a different publisher (Square Enix) than the one TMW has (Xbox).
