There can be a big difference between "how often they post" and "how many followers they have": the latter may relate to an unhealthy need for external validation; the former may relate to a desire to contribute, to make things that benefit others. Even concern about "how many followers they have" may have to do with trying to gauge the effectiveness of their contributions. Some people feel better when they think they're contributing to the wider world.
