Thank you for this beautiful teaching. I too have felt that what David did to Bathsheba wasn't consensual at all and that she only gave in because of a "do-or-die" situation. But as always The Most High Yahuah makes all things work together for good to those who love Him and who are called according to His purpose. I really needed to hear this scripture analysis from a different perspective , and yours was so good. The Almighty really does use those who are "un-usable."

Bathsheba is the woman I always feel the most for in the whole Bible. I hate it when men say she was purposely trying to seduce him. No she wasn’t. A prophet didn’t go to her and firmly rebuke her. But a prophet DID go firmly rebuke David. Meaning God was looking at David as the party at fault, not Bathsheba. And she had to suffer right along with David when their baby died. Poor Bathsheba.

I ended up getting a word from God which was basically the name Bathsheba. I've read the story Bathsheba and David before but I said let me do research on KZbin about it and I found your video. One thing I understand that's really important is finding your identity in Christ. I haven't been reading the Bible that long but I've been very interested in the women and the female aspect of Bible stories. Queen Esther and the story of Bathsheba and David are my favorite aside from Samuel.

You are an amazing teacher. Things are broken down so that even a child can understand. Sure, Bathsheba had her issues. But God grace helped her rise above them. Just like He helps me. With all my mistakes and brokenness, I have survived. I have thrived. Praise God for His love!

Bathsheba grandfather was Ahitophel one of David’s confidants, Bathsheba’s father Eliam was a general in his army. David’s offense towards Bathsheba caused her grandfather Ahitophel grandfather to join Absolam army assault to kill David, he then back to his home town and hung himself. Son Solomon’s lineage was cursed consequently one of Bathsheba four sons Nathan is recorded in Luke’s pure lineage to Mary when HolySpirit intervened to bring forth God’s Messiah

Alida Sharp My pleasure in your service. (bows) You may be one who knows this answer; I am starting to research the Queens of the Kingdom of Israel. Do you know if the Queens of Saul and David were their mothers as well?

RevelationsAgent good question. I honestly don’t know so I would have to research that one myself. Best wishes as you research!

Alida Sharp I am leaning that it is common practice, only because it appears as a common practice; not out of the ordinary. Wives come and go back then for them; but the mother stays and is trusted and full of wisdom. This also confirms why our Holy Mother Mary is the Queen of Heaven. The Kingdom of Israel is the standard fore-runner and prototype of the Kingdom of Heaven; ruled by Jesus Christ.

Salomon is the chosen one of Adonai.. he told Nathan to tell them that Salomon is Jedidyah- beloved of Yah... so it was God who chose the succession and I guess David, acknowledged that.

I’ve also found this story very interesting. I have a interesting book called Jerusalem in the time of the Crusades. In this book is a map of the old city and it really shows what happened and by adding in some probability I think I can tell the full story. In the book page 1 insert is a map you can see David’s palace and tower of David about 100 yards away is the Hospitals close to the citadel page 86 shows Hospital for Women. She would have been there because of her period as the men were out to war her parents probably was at her home so that her father would not have had a problem touching things. she would have gone to the hospital for women that how the men of David new her fathers name right away. David went to the top of the tower the only place you could look over into the Hospitals that’s when he saw her the Bible says she then went home after her time of the month. When David called for her she came I’d bet she thought Uriah was dead and that the king wanted to tell her that face to face. If I had to guess I’d even bet David lied and told her he was dead and in her tears he took her that’s why the Bible talks about the act in a inconclusive way. But when she turned up pregnant. David had to cover it up. I think you are right it never turned into love I don’t think David ever had the love of any women. They had to send a women to keep him warm on his death bed. As we know Solomon wasn’t the oldest or next in line. But he owed Bathsheba for what he did her request would have been you are now going to give me a son and he will be King when you die David agreed. Thanks for your video post 1 second ago

I find it so difficult not to roll my eyes whenever King David is mentioned. I know he was forgiven for everything but honestly - What was he thinking?

I would even say it's not only a power thing, but a rape...we see that 'what David did was bad in the eyes of Yah'. And Nathan's story it suggests that the female part is the lamb... she was taken and the lamb, that was like a daughter was taken ..so she might be as innocent like a lamb. Furthermore this pattern of rape and murder is then repeated in the stories of Tamar and Amnon (Abshalom).. and we see her grandfather conspiring against David and making a public spectacle of Abshalom taking the concubines of David...to get his revenge... I think he never forgave... but Bathsheba forgave.. it was her only way of living again.. we see whereas David list 4sons she begat 4 sons.. none other of the wife's begat that many..but it's also the sentence that David proclaimed...and the most amazing story we see in the boys names: Shimea/hear, Shobab/return, Nathan/give, Shlomo/fullness-peace. So that's the story of David and Bathsheba...and if the songs of Salomon are inspired by her.. wow.

Thank you! I’m a little confused though. You said she was mourning her son and didn’t have any children but then talk about how David promised her that her son Solomon would one day be king. So which one or what am I missing?

I'm sorry, but Bathsheba had a choice. She is just as responsible for her actions as David. Yes, David was a king & very powerful/influential...but it does not matter. Gods law supercedes everything; David sent messengers and Bathsheba AGREED to go with them. She could have said, "I'm married" or protested his advances. Or called for her husband, Uriah. Im sure this would have convicted David. She didn't, and slept with David. The Bible does not say she was raped. They slept with each other, which means she consented. Lets be real, the sin of adultery was in her heart. As for doing her bath of purification; why is she bathing naked where people can see her from the window? I'm placing all the blame on her, but she is not an innocent damsel in distress ...
@naomia18627 жыл бұрын
Walter Brown I still don't believe Bathsheba was a victim. And if I were in her shoes, I would have denied the king. God is no respector of persons. Sin is sin, period. Bathsheba knew it was a sin to sleep with David and not her own husband. She knew she was being unfaithful & committing adultery. David knew he was wrong as well, which is why he killed Uriah to cover things up and to not be considered an adulterer. People keep saying it was all David's fault, but NO they are both responsible. We all have a choice to obey God or fear man.

Naomi A You don't say no to a king. First, David should not have even been there. He was supposed to be at war and I'm sure she was not the only one bathing on the rooftops- it was a common practice by the women when men left for war. You refused and you surely would have been dead. Do you know how stressful and depressing it is to be loyal and faithful to one man and then have to sleep with another? Then he sends her back home. The only reason he acted against Uriah was because she became pregnant and Uriah would not sleep with his wife.. Why do you think God blessed her so much? She became the wife of a king, her son was the wise, and he became king, not David's firstborn but Solomon. You don't get this kind of blessing and honor for nothing now

Resting on Yahushua's Bosom The Bible says David sent Joab messengers and they “took” her to David, also, “he sent messengers to “get” her. It doesn’t say anything about her wanting to go or agreeing to. Back then, women didn’t have a say in much, and were mostly considered property. David had a huge ego and power, and also had other wives and many concubines, even though God told him he should only have one wife.. he didn’t follow God’s orders on that either. Just look at how his life was at that time, he was used to getting what he wanted and Bathsheba was written as a very beautiful woman, so of course, he had to possess her too, like he did the other woman he had. Think about it, back then adultery was a very severe sin, and people could be put to death over it! Why would she risk that! She didn’t even know David personally, and the Bible doesn’t say in any way that she was attracted to him. The Bible also says, “HE lay with her.” It doesn’t say, “She lay with him,” or “They lay together.” Back then, I’m sure housing was built a lot different then now, and David’s castle was probably overlooked many houses. It probably wasn’t unusual for him to see other people bathing too. What woman would want to try to attract a man while she’s bathing to clean herself after from having her period! Yes, I bet she felt so sexy then. She was put into an awful position, he came onto her because she was beautiful, and he just had to have her because he was a lust crazy guy. Being a woman, she felt intimidated, and had no opinion because of the time back then, and especially since he was KING...she felt she could not go against what he wanted from her. The Bible says “she mourned Uriah” when he was killed. If she really was wanting to get with David, she wouldn’t have been sad if her husband was killed. Also, the Bible doesn’t say God was upset with her, only David.
