Also as a cadet it's also good to earn the respect and to be liked by other crew, this includes having a set of good manners and expecting to clean up after yourself
@SailorSyd0073 жыл бұрын
Yes you are right , we have to earn respect that nothing but through give respect and take respect, you do whatever assigned to you without any hesitation and you create your own good manners and be an icon of cleanliness onboard. Being the youngest onboard you should be the one to bring change onboard. Be the change Regards, Team Ahoy! Navigos

19y back, my very first interest was to be on ship, sailing (Merchant Navy), but lack of guidence, information, I stepped towards Automobile Engineering & later Industrial Safety & Fire Safety... After watching your videos, I felt I should have tried hard, rather thinking of a second option... But anyway, nice video on a cadet's life , keep sailing... Al da best 👍🏻

You are really lucky. Sailing on a pleasure craft may be fun. On a merchant ship you are just a slave of corporates, valued by none, having to leave your family for months . 99 % of them regret to be a sailor.
@byjusreedharan17545 ай бұрын
@@bluevitriol6832 this is the only real comment i saw in this whole comment section Merchant Navy life sucks especially cadets life is not like this on majority of ships. They are treated like slaves. They have to bear harsh words and venting off of senior officers. They become dunk in the political play of some worst crew members. They don't need to do anything bad, wrong or anything..... Forget about gameplay 🎮🎯 cadets will not have a peaceful time for p0oping. As a 2nd , my life depends on how good the captain is. cadets are being exploited in all possible ways. Good people are really rare in merchant navy. Stressful life make weak people into morons . Still i appreciate the gems 💎 in our industry who is the hope givers for the future. They have peace of mind 🕊️ and understand the situation, having empathetic quality, and being stoic.

I guess life of a cadet now-a-days or in Maersk is cool.In our days Cadets used to work from morning 4am till 8pm and after that also have to take permission from chief officer. Most of the knockoff used to be at 10pm.Old ships lot of work.Above all bridge cleaning ,CCR cleaning ,work on deck (chipping,painting,cleaning,inventory,stencilling and many more).If chiefofficer finds in such a tidy boilersuits then 😒😥

@SailorSyd0073 жыл бұрын
1. At sea most of the days are same except you have any port call or something. 2. As a cadet it is not really called as salary it is actually stipened and it depends from company to company and ship type you are doing and also nationality of the cadet, it varies from a range of 250$ - 600$ for indian cadets 3. Every cadet will become third mate after successful completion of 18 months seatime and second mates course and MMD exams. Our team have already cleared second mates and sailing as third mate as of now. Regards, Team Ahoy! Navigos

A little story of me as a cadet in a container ship is pretty hard. lack of sleep, i didn't get much knowledge from my officer :") they just don't care to me as a cadet, they think cadet is a bondservant. so i learned by myself. if i ask something that i don't know, they'll said "later i'll teach you" but actually they have never taught me, i have asked to them but they just don't care to me just saying the same words "later" but never. so i learned a lot by searching on google and i got a lot of knowledge,

It depends on the type of ship and senior management onboard on treating you. And also a big factor on how senior cadet you are. The same schedule and names as you mentioned were experienced by everyone in first ships and all work from mng 3:45 to 9-10 at night is common. You will see the benefits later on thats the only time you get that good exposure, you will observe it once you become an officer. Have a good day, Regards, Team Ahoy! Navigos
