Haru, don’t be so hard on yourself about your weight! It’s completely normal for young adults to weigh more than they did when they were in high school! People keep growing into their mid 20’s, puberty doesn’t magically stop at age 18. Be kind to yourself, you are young and still growing up!

I loved watching how you & your family celebrate new years! Thank you for sharing with so much detail, I feel like I was visiting with you lol. I love how you greet your grandmother, it made me tear up. I lost my grandfather in 2021 and I have a hat of his that I talk to as if he were there with me, so seeing you kneel at your grandmother's memorial was sweet. I wish my family had something similar. As for new years, sometimes our families get together to celebrate, but we do not do anything special regarding food or gifts. I am from Ohio in the U.S. and on new years eve I will have a glass of champagne with my husband and go to bed early LOL. We do not like to stay up late, so we treat it mostly as any other day and kiss the next day with a "Happy New Year!" Most other people stay up until 12AM and light fireworks here in the US (sometimes waking me up lol). My family used to light fireworks, but since my dad is older he hasn't seemed interested. Not that I'm complaining, I like my sleep!😂 The Soba looked tasty! You said it was your turn to make the soba this year, how does your family decide who cooks it next?

Haru, I find the Japanese religion so fascinating. While I don’t quite understand it, I love how you go to say hi to your grandmother and do what you do while there. I would love to understand why you light the candle, the incense, and tap the bowl to make it ring! You have a beautiful life in Japan and don’t worry about the extra weight you look great!

Not to be exaggerating but watching your vlogs lately gives me a piece of mind. It really makes me feel like living. Everyday I am just surviving and overthinking, that I dont stop to look at the sky and appreciate it. Watching these peaceful vlogs open my eyes to a lot of things. This new year was nothing special to me, to me it felt like a cycle being repeated again. But slowly I'll try to view myself and the world better i hope :') because that's not the case right now. Being alone and peaceful is great Haru, finding amazing people like you is difficult these days. Live a good life as you are now :> And I wish you all the best with everything! Happy new year!

I love the video! In Germany, New Year’s Eve/day isn’t really connected with such cultural or religious traditions. But it’s very common to do Raclette in the evening (kind of a table grill) and then stay up until midnight and after to watch the fireworks. For younger people going out and party is more in common and much alcohol. On the next morning, the first day of the new year everybody’s got a hangover 😂

Happy New Year, Haru! In our culture we usually stay with the family during Xmas & New Year's Eve/Day. We also prepares dishes that we usually eat during Xmas & New Year's Eve, like Pasta: Carbonara/Spaghetti, Ham, Queso de bola, Fruit Salad, Graham, etc. And for some households they usually have liquors like Brandy, Beer or Wine to celebrate their Xmas or New Year's Eve. As u said in this video you tend to eat less during this holiday seasons, lol its the same with me. But of course I always do my daily workout routines and jogging to burn out some calories and fats. Anyways, stay safe and good luck with your life!🤝🍀

Just keep moving and replace some of the things like beer with a spirit and a tonic water or replacing sugary foods with a small bar of dark chocolate or some dates. :) small things can make a big difference over a long period of time. Instead of say 2 slices of bread, I’d have one. I’d still get my fix for my craving but in a smaller dose. That way I can be content and not crave binge eating something. I also eat before I go out shopping so I don’t feel I need to suddenly buy fast food.

I'm Swedish and my grandpa died when I was 15 and my uncle committed suicide when i was 18. Our way of dealing with death isn't right. it causes more suffering and people are very much unaware. The what if mentality is what brings people down, and also our view of death. When death isn't the end it's not as sad, when death is the end people loose faith. they don't want to loose what the love, what they fail to realize is loosing is inevitable. Cherishing the now is living.

Thank you Haru for this video! I really enjoyed seeing you and your family celebrating the new year. (I’m also very grateful to your parents and grandpa because they let you record the video with them present, but of course you are very respectful about their privacy.). In my area of the southern US, it is still somewhat of a tradition on New Year’s Day to eat collard greens (a vegetable like bok-choi but with much larger green leaves) and black-eyed peas (actually a bean with a black spot or “eye”). The collards were said to bring prosperity because the green leaves reminded people of the green reverse of US currency (bank notes). The peas were supposed to represent coins. I think this is common in other cultures. Thank you Haru for showing us Japanese traditions in such a thoughtful way. I hope 2025 is a happy, healthy and prosperous year for you. I will also resolve to lose weight lol!
