Fun Fact: These Magikarp actually play an important role in Ursaring's seasonal hunting patterns. The reason you never see any Ursaring near waterfalls or mountain rivers later in the year is not only because Magikarp are no longer migrating upstream, but Gyarados are actually migrating _downstream_ to make it back to the ocean. The energy expenditure of fighting a Gyarados just isn't worth the possibility of finding other fish in the same area.

I was aware but thank you for leaving a comment about it for others to learn. Its a Japanese myth its also why Kaido in one piece has a fish fish devil fruit but turns into a dragon. You see it in a lot of Japanese content.

Your video reminded me of a beautiful Japanese saying "koi no takinobori (鯉の滝登り) that refers to koi swimming up waterfalls. Magikarp's Japanese name is Koikingu (コイキング). It's also related to a Chinese legend about a school of koi swimming up upstream in the Yellow River. Many koi gave up and allowed the river to carry them away. Local demons mocked any koi that remained, taunting them by increasing the current or raising the height of waterfalls. However, a single koi refused to give up. After 100 years of jumping, the koi managed to jump over the top of the waterfall. This koi was transformed into a magnificent dragon by the gods as a reward for its determination and perseverance.
