So lovely to see you again. My win for that week was my boss at my temp job gave me a lot of praise about how I'm doing, encouraging me to network and offering to help me look for other roles at the company once my contract ends

I want to hear all about your week last week as an actor, artist, or person! Comment all about your WINS no matter how big or small or vent about those losses and then get up and go for it again, you got this!

Hello! I LOVED this so much! I totally feel you on what you are saying about the highs and the lows of acting. This is such a brilliant idea for a series. I am a London based actress and I started acting professionally last year and was SO insanely lucky. I booked 3 back to back plays, 2 at prestigious venues including the Kennedy Centre in Washington which was WILD. Turned down West end contracts because I wanted to be free for screen work. Then booked a tv job and couldn't do it cause I got Covid and then came the REAL grind. I booked absolutely NOTHING. Didn't have a lot of auditions and was starting to question my life choices! Then got a few more auditions, and booked a couple of short films, and started to feel a little bit better about things. But it is TOUGH. The rejections have come in all at once, just as the bookings came in the beginning and I know it's par for the course. I am doing a little bit of temping, but actually, I would love to just run a small stationary business on the side of acting to sustain me but also to do something outside of acting that I enjoy too. It is a rollercoaster. Things that really help me, are watching Hollywood actors talk about the jobs they didn't book! As you said 'you are not gonna be right for every single job' and I find it comforting when I can read about people who go through the ups and downs of the industry but still choose to stay the course. Sending you and everyone much love and luck in all your artistic endeavors xx

I’m 14 and i struggle with anxiety and depression. I was in a production this past week. I honestly wasn’t really one stage the entire time, but every single time I went on stage, I felt like I couldn’t fake it anymore. It felt extremely draining. I just wanted to say thank you for addressing mental health in theatre.

Our mental health is SUPER important in this business. It's important to listen to your body and know when it is time to take a break and rest 💜

Hi Krystina! I am a teen who has been in theater for a while and wants to go professional, but I don't live in a major city. I wanted to ask how do you get an agent for theater?

I have a few more personal business questions that this video made me think of. If you’re comfortable answering it’d be awesome! 1) do you save a lot of money when you are working to counter balance times when you’re working less? This is my biggest question with anyone who does “gig work” kinda stuff. 2) as an actor are you paid as an independent contractor? Are you your own business or do different jobs pay in different ways? I’ve only ever done wages jobs so this is another question I wonder a lot 3) as an actor, do you get to write off a lot of what you pay for to maintain your skills? Such as taking a dance class or voice coach? What about travel and lodging for concerts that aren’t covered. Or equipment for voice recording, etc? You might be able to tell I work with taxes, so these are things I think about all the time 😂

do you ever deal with fomo when you're currently working on something and see another opportunity that you can't pursue because of your current job?
@KrystinaAlabado2 жыл бұрын
absolutely! It is a big part of what we do, and sometimes it is part of the decision making process of what shows to audition for or do, depending on what else may become available which can be...really tough sometimes! I can talk about this in a future video :)
