Actually, no. Most ex-Soviet/Eastern European only have a driver's side mirror. This was common even in the US through the 90's, extremely cheap cars like the Geo Metro only had a passenger-side mirror as an added option. @@undeadpeak But a tram can't be compared to a train when it comes to braking power and weight. Trams in Europe usually feature magnet brakes (the trams in this video don't seem to feature them), just friction brakes that drop down onto the rails and create a shitload of friction and thus braking power. Braking is so violent that it could injure passengers inside, especially standing passengers if they aren't holding on to something. I've been through a number of those stops and it's the reason I always try to find a backwards facing seat.

If you take notice of the world around you, you don't even need the blind spot check to see a TRAM as you will either have spot them before you reach a crossing or because those things are long vehicles that will always show up in your side view mirrors and if they don't show up there, they are right in front of you. A tram does not disappear in a blind spot. If it does, your mirrors are ridiculously maladjusted.
