@senorpepper340511 ай бұрын
@mackeejack6731 extremely well is a relative phrase. And truck drivers span different industries, different competency levels, some drive their own equipment, some unload their own trucks, some haul dangerous chemicals and have to be up to date on every federal law and safety procedure pertaining to the chemical. Some just want to drive and nothing else. My point is that truck drivers span the gamut of pay rates. Some are overworked and under payed. Some are payed well and work 60 to 70 hours a week, every week. If you live in your truck, it's not just a job, it's a lifestyle. One thing it isn't, It isn't sun shine and lollipops, I'll tell you that much.

My dad's been a trucker for over 30 years. 20 of those inside of the EU, which means he was only home on the weekends. Man that must have been hard to do.

As a former long haul trucker, I certainly enjoyed this one. The worst aspects of the job imo were dealing with all of the issues and delays at shippers/receivers, and trouble finding legal truck parking in time before my DOT on duty hours expired. The rest of the job generally wasn't too bad.

As someone who did trucking for a month before deciding it was not for me despite making $2500 a week. This is pretty accurate. Now I'm making half as much but atleast I have my sanity and peace of mind 😂

I always get a spot in the first rest area. The trick is to try to be done by noon or 2pm. Depending on where you are you can stop by 6pm. The goal is to be stopped by 7 am

I grew up across from a large truck stop, not a trucker though. 3:25 was too relatable, the drivers resort to parallel parking in snow when the mountain highways close.

Small town where all the mountain roads bottleneck, essentially becoming a dead end for those leaving the city when snow storms hit.
