Having taken Latin in school, I found the scene with the Roman soldier making Brian parse out "Romans go home" correctly to be absolutely hilarious. Only Monty Python would think to stick something like that in their movie.

People pay out on Americans for being backward with foreign languages, but their online Latin resources are second to none. It's more relevant than dead languages like Welsh or French, and a shame that it's fallen out of the curriculum.

Latin has such a HUUGE payoff in the languages and professions, and it puts you a mile ahead of others in any Law or Medical College (and probably others too), It IS a shame that it isn't offered in high schools anymore.

I went to the theater to see this when it came out. Protesters were picketing out front. It was banned in some cities in the USA. I'm a Christian and still find it hilarious. Monty Python was the funniest comedy group to ever be.

I grew up with this humour, my parents loved Monty Python. Geez these guys are brilliant. The part in the meeting “..so, apart from the aqueduct, roads, education, medicine, law & order, sanitation & public health!, what have the Romans Ever done for Us?!” This is almost exactly the same argument as the ignorant “woke left” activists in every western country today. If you can , try to obtain this on DVD. I first saw this terrific film 19 years ago. Was living in semi dessert so no neighbours, renovating a Cortijo. It was maybe 2am after it ended and I just layed on the couch reading and munching snacks. After a few minutes, I lept out of my skin because the Monty Python cast - all remaining in character , start shouting and screeching. I can't remember it verbatim but its something like, 'Come on, do something. Make a bloody choice, don't just sit on your arse, get on with it... Lets get some stones, etc' 😂😂

By far the best film of all time. First saw it in Houston, 1980. It was banned in the neighbouring Bible Belt States. I was with a group of mostly Canadians, but a few Americans down the front laughed in all the wrong places.
