The LTTE started the civil war with the aim of creating a Tamil-only state.(70's - northern part of srilanka) In the beginning, it did not get the support of the majority Tamil people either. This event, which added a black mark to the history of Sri Lanka, is known as Black July and is the only time in the written history of 2,500 years that there has been a racist riot. Many ordinary Tamils ​​lost their lives due to this riot. Also the Tamils ​​who did not support the LTTE before finally changed their minds to support them. Later, the government said that the conflict was caused by socialist political parties and banned their parties(Jvp) But what they actually did was to protect the Tamils. In fact, that is what the government wanted to do. Over a hundred thousand people lost their lives due to the socialist rebellion, most of whom were university students and they are Sinhalese. Even during the civil war, the Tamils ​​lived without any trouble in the provinces where the Sinhalese majority lived. On May 18, 2009, the war ended in Sri Lanka, which killed hundreds of thousands of people, and since then, it has been on a path of peace. Hindus of mountain areas of Nuwara Eliya who are mostly plantation workers remain poor for generations. Their conditions worsened now. In Colombo, Kandy and Galle there are few wealthy Hindu Traders who shine in Commerce and generated good wealth.

Even during the civil war, the Tamils ​​lived without any trouble in the provinces where the Sinhalese majority lived. My personal opinion is that there is no need of one central rule for all neighbouring countries which were a part of Akhanda Bharat. Let there be independent Government, but let us be united and bonded by culture. Like Nepal there should be no passport to travel to Sei Lanka too, just like European Union. India and China have different mode of Governance. India is democracy. Namaste

@@byron-ih2ge Yes! Shrii Vishnu is also known as "Shrii Utpalavarna" among Sinhala people. "Utpala" means lotus. "Varna" means colour. There is a very famous Hindu temple in Sri Lanka, Shrii Utpalavarna Vishnu devaalaya. However, Tamil people mostly worship Shiva deva.
