Sinhala means a mixture of Sanskrit and Sanskrit derived words. So as a Sinhalese I can easily understand historical hindi dramas and movies, because old hindi also has heavy Sanskrit influence. But modern hindi contains more Persian words which are difficult to understand .

I think sri lankan Sinhalese came from North India before 2300 years ago . Tamil people came from Tamilnadu 1200 Ad. Major two ethnics groups...

Actually Sinhalese are a mixture of northern aryans and indigenous tribes. Migrations and mixing happened since 6th century BC. This came to it's peak with introduction of Buddhism to Sri lanka by mauryan emperor. There are many historical records regarding mass migrations from eastern india ( from Vanga, Kalinga and magadha kingdoms )and western India (Latakingdom). Result was Sinhala became an aryan language despite being in the southern tip of india . Due to dravidian influence Sinhala alphabet has more similarities to grantha letters. But as a language it is considered as indo aryan. It has heavy Sanskrit influence. Scientists wanted to know why Sinhalese speak aryan while south indians speak dravidian. They have done many DNA analyses to find origins of today's Sinhalese. According to recent DNA studies sinhalese have mainly east indian (West Bengali up to 82%) genetics with lesser western Indian (Gujarati ) and south indian(Tamil) genetic contributions.

I think this restaurant is of GUJARAT BASE CHILIA COMMUNITY THEY HAVE A HUGE CHAIN OF RESTAURANT ON GUJARAT HIGHWAYS AND ALL MOST TOWNS OF GUJARAT THEY KEEP close ONLY 2 OR 3 DAYS OF MOHARUMM . THEY ALL ARE FROM PALANPUR TOWN S SMALL VILLAGE. Mostly their hotels are pure vegetarian names like. Amiras, navjivan, prime, sarvottam, aaram, tiranga, tulsi, asopalav. And many more of Hindu names
