The woman just lost all ten of her children. She is watching her husband suffer like that. She has NO concept of eternal salvation. She has not sense of spirituality, because she is living in the flesh, because living in the spiritual was a concept unknown then. It's no wonder she didn't put him and her out of their misery by way of murder-suicide. We cannot even imagine what life was like then for anyone in the Bible, yet, we tend to judge Bible characters based on 20th - 21st century philosophy from and American point of view, now don't we?

Notice that his entire family was killed except for his wife. She was available to comfort him in Job 2:9. :) Genesis: Eve doubted God's word.

The biggest question I have if this is Satan.... why does God entertain his riddles and questions? Why does God even allow Satan in His presence? Why would God say ‘hey Satan, look at this upright guy?’ and when Satan questioned God’s assessment of Job, why does God say ~go and find out? Very very difficult passage

Because its not satan as a character, its the satan, or hebrew ha satan, the satan, or the accuser. Its not the devil like we think, hes a member of the heavenly host and hes a watcher. We dont know what that angels name is.

Its not the same one who was a serpent in the garden, its not one of the fallen ones of genesis 6, he isnt one of the principalities. Hes just an accuser. He was wrong to question Gods sovereignty, but its not the “devil” . Read it, it says The Satan. You dont put a definite article in front of a name, hebrews def didnt do that

I think the interpretation of 1:6-19 is incorrect. I believe there is something more being said than the narrative just setting it up. If ‘sons of God came to present themselves’ isn’t an event/procedure or something to read into, then the entire section is just (like opposite of allegorical, having no meaning). So let’s just drop the reading into why הַשָּׂטָ֖ן said what he said. This section should be passed by and studied on its own like Michael Heiser does. You have parts of the OT that talk about idols having no more power than a piece of wood (Ezekiel, Ecclesiastes) and then you have Pharoah’s magicians matching plagues. Which is it? Is Asherah just a made up idol? Is Ra, Ishtar, Ba’al? Either sons of God fell and wanted worshipped(which they were bound until the end of days), others left and did the same thing OR the imprint of demons was left on us and they no longer exist. Or somewhere in between. If Satan is a liar, then it must be understood that their names are irrelevant bc they will never tell us their real name. Giving them names, gives them power also. Do areas of the Bible that speak of supernatural beings need to be handled carefully and correctly. .... ok. Back to the story of Job.
