I lived in the Bronx in New York and later outside of Philadelphia when I was younger. Now I live in Florida near Cape Canaveral. It is very impressive that I don’t see garbage in the streets there. I like that very much. Sadly many areas of New York and Philadelphia are no longer safe to go for a walk like you do there. Especially in the evenings. Blessings Lisa. Thanks again for a wonderful video.

Lisa, I would bet that in five years, that empty neighborhood will be skyscrapers too. It takes a while for planning of new large structures and the engineering involved in them. Everything has to be upgraded from small to large. Electricity, water, gas, sewer, etc. That takes a lot of coordination with the city. Then they have to actually design a structure that investors want to see built. Moscow looks like a beautiful city with the skyscrapers they've built already. The last thing they want is a building that looks ugly, especially when compared to the others. Thank you for taking us along. I like seeing new places. Of course, I also like seeing things that you think are "normal". For instance, the crosswalk signs are different than what I'm used to seeing here in the US. I like the idea they came up with for that. It's like when you went to the metro and we got to see the turnstiles that you pay at to get in. They look completely different than what I've seen here in the US. That kind of thing fascinates me. I hope you're having a great day and keep smiling!

Yeah, read the Wikpedia article 'Moscow Urban Renewal Initiative': those simple 5-stories buildings, so called 'khrushchevkas', will completely disappear by 2032 from the entire Moscow and all the owners will get new, same size or larger apartments in 'novostroikas' (new residential buildings) free of charge. So 5000+ of those buildings are being demolished in which 1.6 million people live. I am from Serbia and I travelled there twice, in 2021 and 2023: it's an awesome city! What surprised me a lot are electric buses everywhere, quality of infrastructure, large number of construction sites and metro. I was fascinated with MCD & MCC trains and also the metro line from Vnukovo airport to the city.

In general, an apartment in Khrushchev is not considered a sign of poverty , yes they are outdated , but they are quite warm, gasified , just the rooms there are small , therefore, people, especially young families, tend to buy an apartment for more , in more modern houses or even their own private house in the suburbs. By the way, Russia has been Europe's leader in the construction of new housing for 10 years in a row. But there are still quite a lot of Khrushchev houses in our cities, not only in Russia , in all former republics of the USSR, there are similar analogues of houses in European countries, for example in Sweden, Khrushchev copied them from there , many do not seek to move out of them , housing and communal services in them are cheap

If you live in central Moscow anything would be expensive as in all capitals. Remember that Russia is a huge country with a big population. I am following a couple in Frezyina city about 30km from Moscow and I don’t think they are rich but they are not poor either. They live in a condo they bought 30 years ago and drive a 10 yo BMW. They have a dacha that they inherited from parents. He work as a boss building these big skyscrapers, she works parttime in an office. The rents have to be related to what people earn and I don’t know anything about that. What does people earn in different jobs today? I am a software and web developer how would I live there? The tour was nice but it rises as many questions as it answers!
@eedragonr
@eedragonr Ай бұрын
No I think that she said that is not related to how much one earns but to the "prestige" of the area and the advantages it might offer to someone interested. You can afford it or not. Isn't it about the social value and individual place?

@fredrikbergquist5734 Ай бұрын

@@eedragonr I didn’t understand it as she was looking for an apartment for herself more of a kind of reflection on how rich and poor lives as stated in the headline. ”Rich and poor” implies income or wealth in my book. I was just curious about prices, the couple I follow tell about prices for food, petrol, electricity and has done so for the several years I have followed them. It is an interesting contrast to what is told in western media and to compare to prices in the EU. Right now we live in a world of opposing messages. Maybe it is in Russia as in sweden that you don’t talk about how much you earn so there is not much knowledge out there about it.

The same thing is happening in New York city, US where home owners are being encouraged to share residences with migrants also. In fact, you totally miss the point. These buildings are not 'abandoned'; years ago municipal authorities put them on a demolition list as not being modern enough, in exchange all the condos' owners were granted new condos in the recently built high rise residential complexes nearby as well as free transportation of all their belongings. When more new buildings are constructed in the area, property owners from other old buldings will be resettled in the same way.

Hey Vasilisa, what about dog situation ? Don’t you prefer to adopt instead of buying ? I think Samoyed would not be great for small apartment, may be a teckel or corgi ? PS There are so many creepy districts in Vorkuta, Arhagelsk, Voronej, Chita and pretty much every town outside of Moscow, if you make video for each you’ll be rich enough.

I was in Voronezh, I didn't see anything terrible, there are old houses that are no longer residential, houses are under demolition, in Chita most of the emergency housing was demolished, as in Arkhangelsk, in Vorkuta there are abandoned areas that are also being demolished gradually, at least the new Severstal plants are gradually revitalizing the city , in the north people do not seek they can live there , they can come to work , they will still buy an apartment in a warmer place , Krasnodar is the fastest growing city in Russia , Sochi is also growing .

Greetings Lisa. Moscow is a beautiful city with a unique mix of old tradition and new architecture. It is very clean, and impressive. You may not believe it, but turdeauland is a disgrace now. There is a lot of homeless with the high rent and mortgages, high food cost, high utilities etc etc. There is a very respectful channel here, that due to circumstances has lost his apartment and cannot find a place he can afford for his wife and children. The rents go from $3,000 to $5,000/ per month, plus utilities. Stay safe, God Bless

Read the Wikpedia article 'Moscow Urban Renewal Initiative': those simple 5-stories buildings, so called 'khrushchevkas', will completely disappear by 2032 from the entire Moscow and all the owners will get new, same size or larger apartments in 'novostroikas' (new residential buildings) free of charge.

As an Indian professor and a Communist, I love Russia from the Soviet times. Earlier there wasn't so much gap between rich and poor, now the gap has been continuously widening. Minimum will no longer be guaranteed. With one tenth of population compared to India you will have far better quality of life. It's your choice but Wil have to regret after a few generations.

@_TeIe_Gramme_Lisa_withLove0. There are few topics that I'd love to know about. For instance what are the most popular shows on TV and do you have long running "soaps"? Do you have night schools for adult education, language, cooking, art, or dance classes, where do actors learn their crafts? I want to know what normal people do in the evening if they don't go to theatre restaurant or the gym.

@@bobgoodall1603I think that many Europeans are spending their spare time with the check of their accounts, payments, shopping and planning. Also doing their cleaning, gardening if it's the case, children homework if it is the case, laundering, cooking as she showed and keeping in touch with the family and friends, planning.

@@eedragonr I get it that daily life has a lot of challenges and time consuming activities, mine is no different. What am interested in is where do they go and what do they do during long winters that is slightly different to me, or exactly the same. I know older people go dancing in the open air and ice skating and ice fishing and some even go ice swimming. Are there engineering clubs, that run trains, cars, motorcycles etc, or chef school for enthusiastic amateurs. Folk clubs for trad' music, in a crowded market it makes a difference to get the skinny on what interests some of the people. What did the young pioneers become in Russia, what did they evolve into? Some of my classmates visited the USSR back in the late sixties (Saint Petersburg) and I like to compare impressions. I wondered if a parallel organisation took its place in modern Russia...but that's just me.

@@bobgoodall1603 wonderful if they kept their health for such energetic activities. As far as I know the others even in the middle class and upper class are developing painful chronic diseases after 50 years old and undoubtful many professional not accepted as. They are doing mainly medical gym and sport and all kinds of therapy and treatments. Back to the scouts if they had it before do you mean. The Soviet /communist pioneers had a much more complex and diverse activities, especially in the big cities. Must indeed ask if the pupils ' clubs managed to keep them. What is for sure it's that they kept the pre military training of the teenagers which is rooted in the European military tradition.

Good morning from here, Lisa. Moscow may look really nice from your shots done, and are the government and the property developers going to pull up their socks up and transform cities right across Russia instead of centralising everything for themselves? I see the same crap here in Britain when the South East England suck up all the money for themselves and the North, West and East of country is in a massage decline. With Moscow city skyscrapers in the distance and those old block of flats (apartments) it reminds me of the financial district in the Dockands around Canary wharf resides with low rise blocks being engulfed. Thanks again, Vasilisa.
