Whoever is saying Lange’s version is better and I’m amazed at the amount of “Lange’s is better but...”. Insanity. No room for subjectivity here. Lange does nice with it but the only person who sings this song even close to Bowie is Aurora and even that doesn’t touch him. Nobody touches Bowie. The best. RIP.

It was actually part of the show that this be sung slightly off. But yeah it's up to interpretation I guess. Bowie sings it beautifully and lively and it sounds optimistic and hopeful. Lange sings it in a way that's lifeless and pointless, dark and raspy. Whatever the song means to you is the version you'll prefer.

I love Bowie (can't beat him, especially in this song), but he's really pitched in this video imo. Sounds artificial if you ask me. If you base your opinion on Bowie off this video, please listen to the CD version of this song, or the EMI video here on YT tho that one was pitched weird too.
