Life on our FARM in Portugal | PORTUGAL FARM LIFE S4-E02 ❤

We harvested our olive grove a few weeks ago with the help of our lovely neighbours. Today we wanted to go to the olive oil press to collect this oil. Things did not really go according to plan but we did shoot some sweet footage of our new Serra da Estrela Mountain Dog Puppy in training to make up for it. ❤ We really do love it here on our Portuguese farm!
We are Ken & Gina and we left the UK in 2019 in search of a simpler life away from our office jobs and the hustle and bustle of the big city. We sold our house, left the UK and left the Rat race behind us to move to Portugal and buy a farm. We found an amazing farm in Castelo Branco Central Portugal where we have lived for the last two years.

If you have a large olive grove, you can also divide your grove into 3, that way you prune group 1 this year, group 2 next year and group 3 the 3rd year, that way one third isn't producing at optimal and also you do not have to work so hard at once.

Hi guys, If I don't get it from the supermarket, I buy my olive oil off Amazon every 8 weeks or so. ie. 1.5litres extra virgin olive oil, (Filippo Berio) costs £10.93, with postal charge around £4.93. The back of your Golf goes flat man! you need to lift the seat before turning down the back of the seat. Try pulling up the front of the seat. It should come up, and then it goes vertical and stays back to back with the front seats. At that point you lower the back of the seat, and it will be flat.

2021 has been the best year in history ,regarding the olive production in the whole country,the record was broken,I guess that wil influence the price of the oliveoil, this year.In our home we easily use about 5 L per month,you have to grill some sardines and greenpeppers(scotch bonnet) on charcoal and poor some olive oil on them,the juices and the oil will give a delicious sauce to eat with boiled potatoes or on a slice of traditional bread hmm delicious,you can see by the color that this is the best oil you can get,I sometimes just poor some olive oil on a dish with a bit of balsamic vinegar and dip some bread and just eat it like that,try it you will be amazed and yet so simple. I know that some foreigners have some dificulty eating raw oliveoil but it's a typical Portuguese farmfood.One good idea is to ask Joaquim how he cures the olives to make them eatable,I remember my grandmother first allways made a brine after some 2 weeks she would add some spices and orange peals and leave it for a couple of weeks more.btw your farm is looking lovely it seems to be a pretty nice winter in Portugal so far,on New Years day iet was 23 degrees in Porto,the climate is crazy nowadays hehehe even in Belgium we had 16 degrees the hottest New year ever,c u next week bye!!

In Lisbon Pure olive oil like that cost 5€ to 6€ a litre.
