when i was homeless and in my 20s i was at a truck stop in nj this older bearded white guy saw me and we talked for a few hours he offered me a ride so i took it before we left he said it would be a good idea to grab some food and a shower independently of course we proceeded to wash up and get ready before hitting the road as i left the showers the guy that i was riding with was already out and sitting in the tv viewing section talking to another driver he called out for me and i came and sat and we all chatted for a minute the guy introduced himself as "big red" and he said "like the chewing gum" he said he was going to Oklahoma and he had something he wanted to show us in the back of his "rig" it was a dead girl......in chains or at least she looked dead we called the highway patrol after he left i never ended up getting a ride i walked 4 miles to the next town through cow pastures and swamps it was safer. every time i see a truck driving down the open highway i think of that..
