This is one of the best propaganda videos I have ever seen. Beautifully assembled and shot. Fantastically informative. I don't know if these are in-house or contract producers, but they are making excellent, captivating video. As you can see, there is never a sad face on a Shell installation, bad situations or problems. Nor should those be shown. This is not a documentary, after all. @@ToPlantASeed1 phasing out oil and natural gas is a part of doing that, so unfortunately people will lose jobs. if these mega companies actually cared enough they could easily switch to renewable, less damaging sources of energy but they'd rather not because oil and natural gas makes more money. if shell were to do such a thing jobs wouldn't even need to be lost as those working on rigs like this would find new work in those fields. supporting their oil and natural gas trade does absolutely nothing to change where we get our energy.

@@IAMONELUVNOW You do know that these same oil companies are at the forefront of energy innovation? These same big bad energy companies that people love to hate actually are the biggest energy innovators! Exxon -- back then known as Jersey Standard -- actually was one of the first big innovators in solar photovoltaic cells. Exxon funded a company called Solar Power Corp and in 1973 they were already selling early solar panels! The problems humanity faces aren't because of some malicious greed, it's all because we live in a material, scarce world. These problems will persist forever because our resources are limited. Its amazing how shell thinks it can fool the public with a glossy video of smiling people. Facts are: This facility was planned during the hay days of LNG with a price tag to bail them out during the very good days of 12 to 15 $/mmbtu and now they are happy if they can sell the LNG for 5 $/mmbtu Prelude is over budget with a total cost of 12.6 billion US$ for a production of 3.5 mta probably the most expensive LNG on the market with cost above 3500$/ton Prelude is competing with plants that produce below 1000 $/ton The people who dreamt this up are long gone and everyone in the industry knows what a financial disaster this facility really is. I am amazed that shell tries to put a positive spin on it. This amply demonstrates that the big O&G companies are just not ready for what’s coming their way. They continue to live in complete denial
@ЕвгенийМастеров-ж5л5 жыл бұрын
Shell is pioneer of FNLG area so obviously price for this product higer than onnshore LNG.
@tomschneider75555 жыл бұрын
Евгений Мастеров you are incorrect, FLNG (not FNLG) has been around for decades, El Paso was the pioneer for Floating LNG Regas and incidentally the same person that lead the El Paso FLNG team was, a decade later, hired by Shell to develop FLNG further. She developed the Prelude concept and Shell management approved it. I don’t blame her, I put the blame on Shell’s leadership for approving FID to this money wasting monster which will remain uncompetitive until it’s decommissioned. I should also give credit to Exxon for developing early concepts and patents for FLNG, but Exxon had the financial prudence to shelf their FLNG concept.
@Romanis13374 жыл бұрын
yeah, but the project will probably operate for generations to come (unlike most other LNG projects), assuming it can be well maintained which seems possible by the looks of its quality and gargantuan nature.Once they tap the existing site, they can then move on to other sites; no other $12 billion LNG project can operate perpetually/till entropy allows, like Prelude.
