Until today, I never knew cows actually live off fat! Supposedly about 70-80% of the carbs gets turned into short chain fatty acids. Absolutely incredible. Makes sense how ruminants can grow so big and muscular, they're in ketosis almost all the time

That's possible. Ruminants really sometimes accidentally consumes plastics, even nails or wire. The reticulum chamber or the "hardware stomach" is incharge of that.
