Very interesting listen, I recently lost a close friend who passed away in their late 30s and knew their time was coming and packed in as much as they could into their life. This had a profound impact on me in terms of how I now lead my life and ultimately when it's all said and done, the most important thing in life (for me) is relationships and experiences and making the most of it as you never know what's around the corner.

Thanks for sharing your story with us - the beauty of struggle or pain is that is often helps us to clarify our values and focus on what really matters. So easy to forget these things in the whirlwind of life!

I’ve got to agree with you Matt. I’m in the Middle age transition and I’m struggling with feelings of irrelevance. Having been responsible for all stages of a project I’m now doing review and senior work, supported by and supporting others, but it feels very unsatisfying. Perhaps time for a perspective shift to see the joy in support rather than the “grunt” work. Thanks guys.

Great call ... I loved Matt's story about The Bear and Dad rock! I suppose we all become irrelevant at some stage ... probably something freeing in the idea that we don't actually have to be relevant anymore. Thanks for commenting :)

Something for me that I have been reflecting on in midlife is what I need to let go of that is holding me back in a previous 'season' of life. Thanks again guys for a great episode.

Hi Tim. "Letting go" is a good term for this season of life - and it seems like a necessary step before we can take up something new. Thanks for commenting!

If I didn't know any better, I'd say your 20s & 30s are primarily spent setting yourself up to survive the midlife squeeze ......

Seems that way doesn't it - but I suppose the container we build makes a difference!
