I was into hardcore...from NY and lived at CB matinees. Agnostic Front, Murphys Law, Warzone, Cromags, the Buiscuits.....all that shit like that. Went camping in NJ, met this weird dude and his purple haired chick in the next campsite. We kept badgering them if they wanted any of the fried salami that we were cooking up. "Nah...we don't do that shit. We're vegans"...looked down at the guys combat boots and he had this red and white patch that said 'Life Sentence' on it. Went home, bought cassette, never looked back. Such was life back in the 80's
@piotrb84344 жыл бұрын
Murphy's Law were never hardcore, more like ska punk. The only reason why they are labeled "hardcore" is that they were from NY and hung out with bands like Agnostic Front, Cro-Mags and Bad Brains. Warzone were always closer to the British oi! sound mixed with metal than typical American hardcore. Bands like Unity, Uniform Choice, Youth Of Today, Life Sentence, Justice League, No For An Answer, Carry Nation, Brotherhood, Up Front, Wide Awake, Attitude Adjustment, Infest are the epitome of hardcore.

This entire album is the epitome of Punk Rock. And living in Chicagoland, I was lucky enough to see them play quite a few times. They would let my buddy, Mike Goode, get on stage and sing PUNKS FOR PROFIT a couple times. Man, I miss those days 😔 Anyways, the reason why I started to comment was to see if anyone out there has the lyrics to IN THE STREETS??? If so, could you post them in a reply to this comment, please? I don't believe the original albums or cassettes came with the lyrics because if they did, I'd know every single word to this very day, as often as I played this album. It was kinda weird the way I even bought their cassette in the first place back in 1987. I was on vacation with my family down in Florida back in the days when southern Florida was one huge party during Spring Break. And that's where we were and that's when it was. Spring Break of 1987. I was only 14 years old but I was able to sneak off and party with some of the high school and college kids. During one of the days while we were there, I went into a record shop that was in this strip mall. It was one of those corporate record shops you'd find in the malls like Camelot Records or Musicland or some other such crappy music store. Well, back then even all the corporate record stores had some decent Punk and Metal albums. I LOVED looking at all those cassettes and LPS back then: 7 Seconds, GBH, Septic Death, The Exploited, Circle Jerks, Slayer, Celtics Frost, Anthrax, etc. Well, this place had........ NOTHING!!! And I'm not exaggerating one bit. I mean, they didn't even have a Metallica album!?!? I was never a fan of Metallica but what kind of record store didn't even stock Metallica back in 1987?!?!?! But then I saw this bright red cassette spine blaring out from all the others and when I picked it up, I was so surprised to see that it was LIFE SENTENCE!!! I had heard of them being from Chicago but I never heard any of their tunes or saw them in concert or knew much about them, other than they were from Chicago. So, of course I bought it along with a PINK FLOYD "DARK SIDE OF THE MOON" cassette. Crazy combo, right? Well, I played the LIFE SENTENCE first and I wasn't all that impressed. It was alright but I was expecting much more out of it. Later on I popped in the Pink Floyd and I instantly realized that the batteries in my headphones were low, as I was already familiar with DARK SIDE OF THE MOON. So, it suddenly dawned on me that I was listening to the LIFE SENTENCE cassette with low batteries!?!?!? Ha!!! So, I popped in some fresh new batteries and then tried the LIFE SENTENCE cassette again and HOLY CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Blew me away from beginning to end. Ha!!! And this album has certainly aged very well, as it still blows me away all these years later.
