2006 FIFA World Cup and 2004 Olympics music performer, Benny Prasad, once attempted suicide at the age of 16. Born on August 6, 1975, in Bangalore, India, Benny faced significant challenges throughout his early life.
Despite high expectations to excel academically, influenced by his father’s career as a scientist at the National Aerospace Laboratories, Benny struggled with severe asthma, cortisone steroid treatments, resulting in rheumatoid arthritis, lung damage, and a weakened immune system. His fiery temper and a tendency towards deceit further complicated his circumstances, leading to deep depression.
Encouraged by his mother, Benny attended a retreat and eventually joined Youth with a Mission (YWAM), where he met Jesus as his Lord and embarked on a transformative journey. He completed various training programs, including the Discipleship Training School (DTS) and School of Biblical Studies (SBS) in Bangalore, India, and pursued further studies in the USA and Australia.
Benny’s life underwent a complete transformation, leading him to become a renowned gospel musician and instrumental guitarist. He is celebrated for creating the Bentar, the world’s first bongo guitar. His incredible journey saw him visit all 245 nations, earning him the world record for the fastest person to achieve this feat in just 6 years, 6 months, and 22 days.
In addition to performing at prestigious events like the FIFA World Cup and the Olympics, Benny has designed innovative musical instruments, including a unique 54-string guitar. He attributes his remarkable turnaround to his faith, believing that if he could find purpose, anyone can.
