As a therapist I highly recommend seeing someone to learn to cope and understand and talk about it. Allow the emotions to get unstuck. Don’t hold it in it is traumatic and from living as an abled bodied person to now having chronic illness and it’s anxiety inducing and unexpected it’s scary. Your emotions are valid, you are not a burden, and you can still have an amazing quality of life no matter what. But definitely feel your feels momma it’s not easy, it’s okay to be vulnerable it shows great strength through your humanity.

Agree . Carlin I really think this will help relieve some of your stress and anxiety too. I think when we keep things bottled up bc we don’t want to feel like a burden, eventually our bodies are in overdrive. This can trigger flare ups in some conditions.

You are so correct. 43 yrs ago I got hurt on the job as a nurse and have done everything you advise. My doctor said I might never walk again but I told him "I'm a woman and just watch me. I will do it just to spite you". I have dealt with so many new and chronic health issues since the day got hurt (6 back surgeries and last year I lost my right lower leg to a severe bone infection) which has brought back all of the same pain from 43 yrs ago. I was able to learn to cope with my pain back then and also talked to NeuroPsychiatric Social Workers 4 times since 1980 and they have made a huge difference in my life. Thank you for such valuable advise for Carlin and whoever may be going through any form of a chronic illness (s).

Great advice! The last few years I have had so many physical problems, but most of the time I appear to be ok. But I know people thought I was faking, even the doctor. Well I have a new doctor. I love her! She is the first one who not only showed concern, after lots of tests, I am finally getting the diagnoses that I knew I had! I have been to countless specialists who gave me less diagnoses or didn't seem to have any answers. This has been so helpful, and now I know everyone finally believes me! And I am getting the help I need, finally! I think Carlin needs to try another doctor. Hers haven't come up with a diagnosis after more than a year.

Carlin, have you tried eating clean? Your gut health, what you put in your belly is important. I watched another person have extreme migraines, body issues finally get a doctor who put her on a clean food diet and she feels so much better.

Just because other people have it worse than you do doesn't mean life isn't hard for you or that you don't struggle with things. It's ok to have bad days/weeks and getting emotional isn't a bad thing. In my family we have a saying, "a good cry cleanses the soul." I personally think the Lord gave us tears as a relief valve. My oldest brother once told me that I should not mistake tears for weakness. That has helped me so much when I'm going thru a valley.

I’ve been watching all your videos from oldest to newest I just discovered y’all here as well as Tiktok (that’s where I usually stay and post my vlogging) thought I would share something with you and they have probably tested Carlin for this, but my daughter-in-law has the same episodes minus the shaking part . She started having the passing out for no reason the doctors couldn’t figure anything out other than she does have lupus, but they didn’t think that was what was wrong… she also did most of the test Carlin did but then they discovered that when she would have these episodes, her blood pressure was getting dangerously low and that may not be your case but she wasn’t getting enough oxygen to her brain so therefore that explained the dizziness, the disoriented passing out the numbness, she is now on blood pressure medicine for low blood pressure and her episodes have almost stopped other than the fatigue she experiences.. I jumped ahead, so I’m still back about 11 months ago with your videos. I just thought I would see if maybe this would help but as I said this may have already been checked out.. I have followed The Bates show since the very beginning!! I miss it so bad but I love the fact a lot of you have gotten KZbin channels I follow all of you.. I’m believing and standing in agreement for positive reports and this will all get resolved and be another testimony to share with the world🥰🥰

I had moments during hospitalization and major surgeries where I did the “ Why God “ ! It’s normal to have a feeling of guilt ! Your husband loves you he doesn’t care what he has to do ! Please start sharing with Evan !!! Please ! I am awful with sharing my feelings!!! I am the type that I deal with everything on my own . I don’t trust that I won’t fall all to pieces if I share !!! Oh Carlin! Never feel bad for having emotions & feelings. What you are going through is real, raw & scary for you. Our family fully understands what y'all are going through. My husband has epilepsy with the same type of migraines you have. And struggle to know what triggers what is hard. It's hard on my husband, hard on our son, & hard on me too. Evan, you are amazing. The support you have been for Carlin & the kids needs recognition. And you, as Carlin carer/support, also need to make sure you practice self care & have time to recharge. Keep smiling. Keep having fun. But, don't shy away from the emotions. Our family understands the trials with new meds, many tests, the unknown, & laughter, crying, sharing & togetherness - that's what gets us through. Bless all y'all! Your journey is helping others more than you probably realise. ❤

Nurse viewer here. I totally agree with the above therapists recommendations. This is a hard enough medical condition to handle. But you both have to learn to how to navigate life with the chronic illness. It’s just one of those things conditions that don’t always afford 😊the opportunity to remember and you will feel frustrated as a young healthy woman until this all started happening. Now the whole dynamic of life has changed and you have to be safe and still live a full and happy life. Wishing you all the best for your future wellness journey. Evan you are doing fabulous with all this going on. Carlin be willing to let people help you out it’s ok. Take care

Carlin, please don't feel guilty about being emotional. You are human, of coarse you have emotions. Even if you try to hold them back, they are still there. It is healthier to feel emotions and process them, than it is to repress them. You are doing your best to take care of your physical health, and your emotional health is just as important. It all works together. I really feel for you, and Evan too, for what you're going through. I am happy to see what a wonderful couple the two of you are, and glad you have each other to count on. I hope and pray that things will get better for you, and that you will find your best way of getting through whatever life brings.❤❤

Carlin, I am so sorry you are going through this. I went through a sudden change of health three years ago in my life. I was only 25 years old and woke up one day to losing my hearing in my left ear.. It was a very difficult journey and I had to put my trust in God to guide me through the unknown. I can tell you from my own experience, it did get better… As a nurse, I have taken care of many pediatric patients that are medically fragile. Something that has shown benefit to them is a ketogenic diet.. I am not sure if this is something you could trial but I wanted to share the wisdom I gained along to you. Carlin I are such a strong woman to me. 43 yrs ago I got hurt on the job as a nurse and my doctor said I might never walk again but I told him to watch me. Since that day I spent 12 yrs on and off in bed in severe pain but I learned how to cope with it. When dealing with a chronic illness or injury is not a walk in the park as they say. And having a very strong faith these health issues brought me closer to God. It's funny because I am now also a below the knee amputee of my right leg and I am slowly losing my sight but my faith is still as strong as it has been since my injury. And I love to do a few crafts over the years and I just started coloring my adult inspirational coloring books again and 3 days ago I completed the page I am sharing with you tonight. Because you said that you know our Lord is walking by your side every single day (even through the rough days) this page can not be any more relevant. I am now 69 and have to refocus my attention on learning to cope with the severe back and leg pain as I learn to walk again. But I know our Lord is still here by my side and I will make it through this new challenge (along with all of my health challenges I have faced these past 43 yrs. I continue to keep you all in my prayers. I can't upload my picture for you to see on this post but I will continue to try.

Y'all are hilarious! "The challenge" was hysterical. Oh my stars - y'all are so fun. Carlin, even tho you are deeply reliant on the Lord, the human side of us DOES wonder if there will be a resolution, and gets tired of the struggle. Whatever others deal with does not negate the fact that you and your family are facing a difficult situation. Think it through, talk it through and feel those emotions and feel your faith and know that you are cared for by God even in the midst of the emotional rollercoaster. it helps put things in perspective and doesn't stuff down the emotional side. Love you all and pray for some answers/treatment for your health issues. Have fun on vacation!

Loved your answer about faith. Hang in there, you both have such an upbeat and positive perspective. I get tne hardship with migraines... I'm 70 and have had chronic migraines all (yes even as a child) my life. I use Imitrex (both the pill and the injection) for relief. I also get Botox injections every 3 months, preventative. The Botox helps some, mostly reduces the number I have each month by 1 or 2. I'll take it, any reduction is a gift. As for the Imitrex, it's not a preventative, it's to get rid of a current migraine. The pulls work if I can take one at the onset of a migraine. If it's already full-blown only the injection will work. I call it my special gift from God, it gave me my life back. If you've not tried it ask your neurologist. Sending to you both, lots of prayers, love and hugs. 🙏❤🤗

I think your situation is a hard one, Carlin. You say ppl deal with this all the time but I don't know anyone. It's opened my eyes that this happens to young healthy people. We are all waiting along with you for the doctors to finally sort you out.

Once Carlin began talking about her health it made me tear up cause I know you guys have been on a bumpy road with this, and I know it can be frustrating having to wait on the medical system for results and stuff like that. Stay strong in your faith and trust in God. 🙏🙏 “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.” (Isa. 40:31).

Carlin, you are an inspiration. Keep strong in your faith! I have not experienced the health issues that you are going through, but I recently went through breast cancer treatment and having faith in God is so important! Having a great support system with our family is important as well and I can see by the videos that you have great support! When you feel down, know that God has got this and you have many people praying for you! Keep making those memories with your family!

Carlin, I understand what your going through. I was diagnosed with POTs in 2018, got Covid in Mar2020, TIA (mini stroke) in Oct2020, Covid again in Aug2021(hospitalized for 9 days) then in Oct2021 had a bad POTs episode and fell down my deck steps and broke both ankles and my right leg. At 46 I had never broken anything and in one fell swoop I broke everything. I wasn’t allowed to drive till literally March of 2023. It made me feel trapped and dependent on everyone and I hated it. Covid really intensified my symptoms and brought out new problems. You have been in my prayers everyday and I know with Gods strength you will make the right decision on when to expand your family. As far as driving goes, ask your doctor if you can drive short (no more than 20min) distances or drive while there is another adult in the car. Much love to you and yours.

Oh you two made me cackle with laughter doing that challenge. I have just had spinal surgery 10 days ago and the pain from laughing was so worth it. Beautiful Carlin, never feel guilty for having a medical condition that is out of your control. I have been bed ridden for the last 11 months and have had to rely on my son (who I am carer for as he is autistic). He has helped me without question. People help you because they love you. Would you do all that Evan has done for you if it were Evan having the medical issues? Of course you would. You do it because you love him. Excepting help is hard to do - I am living it !! You must "pour it out" to someone, maybe start in the mirror in the morning just having a chat with yourself, then progress to maybe your Mum, a sister, a close friend. Anyone, but just get it all out otherwise you will burst. This could also be attributing to your migraine's? I know when I bottle things up I suffer from them. You are not a burden on anyone. OK !! Love you two to the moon and back. Hugs and prayers from Australia. xxxxxx

Have you tried an elimination diet or a carnivore/keto to see if it would help with any of the symptoms I know a lot of people who have had wonderful success with both of those ways of eating with serious health issues. Praying for you all during this hard season!

Carlin, Evan and you both vowed in sickness and in health. Please don't feel quilty because you are the person relying on the other this could have been Evan needing more care and you know YOU wouldn't shy away from it nor resent him for it. This is what a good marriage is all about. You are both blessed to have each other. ❤

Carlin my son has been a epileptic for a About16 years we don't know why. A million tests and just as much meds. There's people who stop having seizures for years and start having them again then go for years without having them. It doesn't make sense. It's a symptom of my son's to feel guilty for have them I tell him I'm grateful he is with us. Staying positive is so important.God is in control. God bless you. Never give up.

Trust in getting better. I was on Lamictal for almost 10yrs. I can’t tell you how many times I would have another one making no driving longer+ all the other things. This med stopped my seizures and I stayed on it bc I was so afraid of another. I had 2 types of seizures. Everything happens for a reason, we go from things. ❤

I take Topamax for my chronic migraines, it is a medication I used for seizures too. I know exactly how defeated you can feel, but one right neurologist with the right med dosage, changes everything. I grew as a more supportive, understanding and grateful person. Sending you prayers.

Hebrews 10:17-39 and Hebrews 11:1 of course Sharing what you’re going through, put these verses in the forefront of my mind. Such an encouragement even not being my own situation. Keep doing what your doing. Don’t not share your testimony. It’s worth sharing! Also have fun, lots of fun, because we overcome through our testimony and that’s where the joy comes into the situation :) so thankful that God gave us the ability to laugh!!

Carlin I went through a really bad time with what they thought were migraines. They tried every medication out there. One called fioricet was the only one that came close to touching them. Finally I was diagnosed with occipital neuralgia with secondary migraines. I was approved for Botox for the migraines which has been life changing and helps keep the occipital nerves from flaring up! But I also get injections for that. Don’t let the Drs stop until they get everything figured out. It took me many years and Drs but I finally got answers. I’m so thankful my kids were grown when this all started for me. I can’t imagine having gone through what I did with little ones and I feel for you both! I will keep you in my prayers 💜💜

I am a 66-years old woman who has been getting constant occular migraines for the last 2 years (after I had covid). After my last CT SCAN, I was diagnosed with Chronic white matter lesions ischemia. Began the once a month shots. It is hard enough dealing with it at age. Can't imagine dealing with it at your age. Have been diabled with back injury since 1982. That was hard enough. Give yourself grace to feel what you are feeling. Yes, Evan is your caregiver when you have bad days. But you are equally his rock when he needs someone. It all comes out equally.

Carlin don’t ever apologize or minimize what you going through. Even if someone has more challenges that doesn’t take away from what your going through. I imagine it’s very difficult to see improvement then have a setback. You have every right to feel discouraged at times. Share with Evan your feelings. That’s what he’s here for. I myself can’t drive and rely on my husband a good bit due to a physical disability and at times I feel guilty but he reminds me that’s what he’s here for.
