I teared up watching this 😢. My husband and I were high school sweethearts and got married young and started a family young as well. We have 3 babies. We’ve been together for 31 years and married for 27. Take time to spend with one another. Cherish the small things. Now that we’re grandparents and our youngest is 17 we are taking more small trips and date nights to keep the connection strong. It hasn’t always been easy but all worth it. ❤

Yes! My husband and I met when I was 14 and we’ve been together 17 years and married for almost 8 of those. And his parents were childhood sweethearts also who have been together 30 something odd years. My husband and I were just talking about the fact that we have known each other more than half of our lives and been through many ups and downs but it’s been worth every moment.

My grandfather used to often say, "The days are long, but the years are short." It is a phrase that has become more true with each passing year.

There’s a scientific reason for this. How we perceive time when we’re younger and when we’re older has a huge effect. If we only live for 5 years as a kid. 5 years will feel like a lifetime literally and that is the longest they felt in their lives. But compared to an old person who is about 70 years old. 5 years isn’t that long at all considering that’s many times their lifespan. So time will feel faster and shorter for older people.

Talking about being in the moment and knowing you're in the good ol days reminded me of Ed Helms "I wish there was a way to know you're in the good ol days before you've left them". We have 3 girls, 13, 7 and 4 months. It is incredible how fast time goes by. It's so bittersweet to be a parent. You watch these precious beings grow into wonderful people and you're so happy for them yet it hurts at the same time. The fact that you guys are aware of this though is great. New moms that plan to breastfeed PLEASE READ THIS: For most mommas it's fine to pump and it actually increases milk supply for baby. The reason pumping didnt work out for Abby is because she has been blessed with a great milk supply from the get go, pumping lead to an overproduction which led to her becoming engorged. I was one of those people who had a really low milk supply and had to pump for weeks before it regulated properly. I NEEDED to pump. Please don't ditch the pump if the hospital offer it to you. Just because it didnt work out for Abby doesnt meant it wont work for you. Don't compare youself to other women when it comes to milk supply like I did, it can get you really down. Having a low supply sucks but having a really high supply/overproduction also sucks. Mastitis is awful! Listen to your bodies ladies and try not to give up so easily. Abby & Matt you are doing a wonderful job and are such amazing parents. I dont want it come across like I'm lecturing. I just wana put a quick disclaimer out there for people that might take what you say the wrong way. All love ❤ P.s bottle feeding is fine too mommas . A fed baby is a healthy baby.

Most people like me, when I had my 5 kids I was young and was doing my thing and sometimes not the right thing. As ashamed as I for those things I am thankful that all my kids turned out like they did and love me no matter what I’ve done or mistakes I made. I watch them now because they are all grown with their families now and sometimes I cry because time went by so fast and I can never get that back. I remember bathing them and giving them food and rubbing there backs and all that stuff you do and I yearn for that time back so bad! On the note of couples not fighting … my husband and I don’t “fight”. Fighting makes the other feel bad either by yelling or being harsh with words. We don’t do that. We rarely have disagreements, but when we do, we just always want to discuss everything and fully understand one another, so it never feels like a fight. It feels like a conversation. Everyone is different. In other relationships, I was always fighting. So it’s not just a personality quirk. If you’re happy, you’re happy.

Thank you for always being so open and honest! 😊 Mom of a six months old boy here! It’s crazy how much I can relate to what you guys are saying about couple life after having a baby (hormones are definitely not helping😂) and how hard it is to know that all the precious moments we are having now are soon going to be memories we’ll be looking back on. If only we could control time and live this amazing dream over and over again!

I can very much relate to the wanting time to stop while your baby is young. I still think this and my baby is almost 3. It's the best and the worst thing! It's like you want them to stay small but you want to see them do all the amazing things in life!

I feel this so much. My daughter is going to be 2 in 11 days, and I saw on my memories the other day that I was 38 weeks pregnant on Thanksgiving, and this year she is a full flown toddler. Abby i love what you said that "other people are allowed to be wrong about me and that I know who I am" and that is something that I am going to make sure I keep in my mind! It is hard for other people to understand when they don't know the big picture (why you were waking Griffin up) and I had a lot of anxiety, still do, regarding traveling with my daughter. I dont like to be in the car alone with her for long trips and someone in my family would always make a comment about why we/I wouldnt do something if my husband couldnt come but no one truly understands how I felt. I always try to do what will be the best for my family and it is hard.

I love watching you guys so much! You are absolutely right about slowing down and enjoying the moment. When my daughter was a baby, I couldn’t wait for the next stage…couldn’t wait for her to smile, roll over, sit up, crawl, walk, talk. Then, all of a sudden, she was a year old and had done or was starting to do all of those things. I feel like I wished her first year away and I so regret that. I wish I had had that perspective before it flew by me. Abby…I have literally cried because I wanted time to stop too. Many times in fact. My daughter is 16 now and every day seems to pass faster than the last. But, I look back at the wonderful memories we have made and I wouldn’t change any of it for the world!

I want you two to read this and read it carefully.. You guys are INCREDIBLE PARENTS!! And you CAN control time.. You just have to literally learn to be in every moment. Up until just about 2 weeks ago, I have been a stay at home/caretaker for people in my family. That meant that I literally was with my kids almost every second of every day, until they all started school. And then because I was a caretaker for my inlaws, I had the luxury of being at every event/game/ceremony etc. I knew that the days of me being there were numbered until they leave for college, so.. I've been soaking it all in. On the one hand I absolutely feel like time has flown by. Yet on the other, I feel like it has taken so long for my oldest's Senior year to get here, this year. It's all in how you look at it. A piece of advice I want to share regarding spanking.. I feel like when kids hear the word "no" a lot, they tend to want to test the limit. So, I had made a decision before my oldest was born, that I would baby proof the house (and I mean anything I didn't want him to get in to at all).. He tried one time to do something, and when he couldn't get it open or figure it out, it was like he gave up and moved on. Because we weren't telling him no or getting on to him all the time, I feel like it made things easier. If you're not in to spanking for punishment, maybe try prohibiting the things you don't want to have to get on to him about, from the start.. I don't know if that makes any sense, but it worked for us. We had our 3 kiddos less than 4 years apart. They are now 17,15 &13.. And to be really honest, they are some of the most well behaved, goal oriented and driven teenagers I know. You cant stop time.. but you can learn to be in every moment.. Getting older is inevitable, so look forward to every "next milestone" and celebrate the heck out of it!! It's worth it!! Keep doing what y'all are doing!! I promise, the time flyin by will get easier and less emotional. because.. have I said this already?? IT IS TOTALLY WORTH IT!!! Every step of the way! :)

Abby, you always make me smile with your responses to Matt just putting everything out there. Matt, you’re just the kind of man I hope my daughter marries some day. Y’all (😊) might want to consider that podcast as a service to so many other young marrieds! You have a lot to offer. I enjoy watching your videos so much. you vulnerability and honesty is amazing. Abbey, I understand wanting to pause life as your kids get older but if you pause now you'll never get to the fun, crazy and amazing times that your kids have still to show you. Babies are so precious, but the years to come will be just as good. If you asked me what year was my favourite for my kids, I couldn't tell you. They are 18 and 21 now and I love this age. I also loved it when they were 15 and 18, and when they were 10 and 13 and so many more. Keep making memories and keep that beautiful smile of yours going. You both are such positive, happy people. Yes, there are so many people that would love to help a new mom or new parents. I always take a day of PTO or vacation, or even take a Saturday or Sunday to devote to my new mom friends and cousins. I bring breakfast, lunch, dinner (or order all three) and just devote the entire day to rocking baby, changing diapers, tidying up the house, while mom and dad can nap, get out of the house, or just be pampered while in their own home. It’s the best gift I can give and it is probably more rewarding and satisfying for me than it is for the new parents. My kiddos are 12 and 15 and to be able to spend the entire day spoiling and loving on a new baby is such a blessing. Most new parents won’t ever ask or expect a friend or family member to do this, but you have to insist! It’s good for all parties involved!!! ❤️
