Hope you have more luck in the next round, wishing you all the best. Lovely to see Soul to Soul here, I follow them too. Naturalis is a big museum. I actually preferred the old museum, before the renovation. It was much lighter and was a beautiful building. Now it is almost too massive and very dark.

For Maastricht: Don't miss the amazing bookstore in the former church (Dominicanen) and of course try some vlaai (my recommendation would be to try it at restaurant Basilica). And have some regional dinner dish as well, for example Zoervleis/zuurvlees. Rome or Barcelona: both are amazing. Rome is a Mecca for history and classical art lovers, with some interesting street art etc as well (and of course religious significance). Barcelona has a more pleasant atmosphere to me and great Gaudí works, and don't count out Barcelona for the food either! You can't really go wrong with either, although I think Rome is the bigger can't-miss-this-while-living-in-Europe-city for me.

I w2ouldn't be able to tell you about Rome, as I never have been there, but Barcelona is, even after the few times I've visited, far more familiar. It helped that I once (in my reckless youth ;) got it into my head to learn Catalan, so I could at least read all that wasn't directed towards foreign visitors, and surprise the original citizens by communicating in their own language. (Talking about language, apparently I was so impressed with your 'inburgering' that I started writing this comment in Dutch). Anyway, there is a lot I love about Barcelona, and this time of year it won't be overrun by too many tourists. But if you want a third alternative, there is Malta. I've been there a few times around Christmas and New Year, and that worked out great: there is a lot to be seen, you can reach almost every part of the Island with their bus service (and even the smaller island with a ferry serviced by boats that once we operational in Zeeland, called Marsdiep and Scheldestroom), the weather can be nice enough to lunch outside, and almost everyone speaks English (along with their own Maltese language, a surprising form of Arabic (but without the harsh sounds) spiked with mostly Italian vocabulary). And this time of year also far less tourists than in summer, but with interesting seasonal customs. Christmas decorations in the streets, and many homes (and also inside churches) have elaborate nativity displays with the crib, that they have visible from the street, as there are competitions for the best one. You see a lot of signs with 'Presepju', Maltese for crib. Then again, I haven't been in Barcelona this late in the season, so they may have some special traditions on display as well :)

Naturalis! Awesome:-) Kids absolutely love the dinosaur exhibit/lab, but as you saw, all of it is pretty cool. The entire building is geared to give you an amazing experience and since it is connected to Freek Vonk (a biologist celebrity here who makes kid's programs about nature) it's a double treat. For comparison, Freek is like a Dutch Steve Irwin. The top floor is a bit too adult imo for when you're walking around with kids. I was horrified when my 7-year-old daughter sat in front of a sex cartoon! So be careful, peeps! So sorry to hear that you had trouble with the dark of the season, I missed that in your videos last year. However, it seems that you're dealing with it just fine:D I'm a sucker for the dark, due to the lights everywhere. It's like Christmas everyday:-) January is the worst, I think. No more holidays and only darkness-> the need for spring returns (unless you love ice-skating, then it's excitement every day: will it freeze?!:D. However, I totally get that some blues will kick in. Try to experience fun though! The Dutch have a saying that basically means that every season has its wonder/qualities. Try to find it, you hear! Happy to hear that the Dutch 'family' is growing! Props to your friends and hope your circle of happiness will keep on expanding. Looks like you had a great Thanksgiving. Even with your family in the US; you're creating your own traditions now. Who knows what it will lead you to. Blossoming into full-blown Thanksgiving buffets! Rome is such a great city to visit if you're interested in archaeology, history & beauty in general. The buildings are awe inspiring, the feeling that you're walking in living history, the Vatican: to stand there and being able to walk on those grounds. Christian or not, it's just.... there are no words. The Trevi fountain, Italian food, the Spanish stairs, all the creations by painters like Michelangelo... The richness of it all will blow your mind. Be advised though that Rome is very touristy and you'll will see ppl trying to make a buck everywhere. Especially around the Colosseum; hustler central. I have not been to Barcelona so I cannot give you any tips there, but I do know that pickpockets are a problem there. We used to go with classes at my school and it was an issue, so keep a hand >in< your pocket >on< your money at all times. Prague is a city you should walk/stroll through and experience. There's so much to see (it's amazing in the evening, to stand on a bridge (the Karlův most!) and see it flicker😉. Especially the castle and the St. Vitus cathedral look like a fairy-tale at night. The TV show the Wheel of Time from Amazon shot there recently, as did Carnival Row. If you're interested in such things. Have a wonderful time. There's wonder everywhere and so much to enjoy. Wishing you a December full of merriment and joy!

Nice video again. Nice to see Eric and Tammy there too. You know, I follow quite a few KZbinrs (I don't have Instagram, I do have Facebook) and for me that's a window to the outside world. I'm a bit stuck in my own little world myself, because I have very few social contacts. I occasionally have a chat with the neighbor, but I can't attend birthdays or parties or other social events. Because of my cerebral infarction I am quickly overstimulated and then I am upset for days. That's why I like to watch your videos, I still feel like I have some social contacts at a distance :-)

Go to Germany for the Christmas markets, they are way better than the ones in the Netherlands. I’ve been watching the channel by German in Venice, which is by a German who kind of did the reverse of you and has lived in Venice, California (as his username implies) for decades and post many videos from there. He’s however now back in Germany for the Holidays and posted a few videos of the Christmas market in Düsseldorf, which make me want to go there (if I can find a friend with a car to accompany me). I have been to the Christmas market in Cologne in 2009 and it was magical, never seen something like that here in the Netherlands.
@Snowshowslow
@Snowshowslow 2 жыл бұрын
I'll second that. I love that Christmas markets are becoming more of a thing here, but nobody does them like the Germans. I personally love those in Münster. Just mind your timing: the Christmas markets in Germany close a few days befóre Christmas, usually.

I should learn to express myself more carefully in written language. Should I delete my comment? What if i re-edit? That would make your response useless and strange. I'm fairly new at this commenting on KZbin-video's thing. May have to delete my account and never ever post anything ever again. I'm calling myself stupid on a daily basis. Hi T&T! I'm wondering if you are experiencing any of the World Cup madness there and how you compare that to American sports culture like when the Superbowl is held? America is doing very well in Qatar and they have a young team, in 2026 the Cup will be held in North America, including games in Dallas and Houston. Have you experienced yet any of the Dutch Oranje sfeer and what do you think about it?
@TAndTGoDutch

The World Cup seems like a much larger deal for sure! Even walking around in the evenings you see the green glow from the televisions in many homes. We’ve been watching here and there, but are interested in The Netherlands vs. USA on Saturday! Should be a really great time.

@@TAndTGoDutch this would a great opportunity for a video! You should see if you can get a watch party of Americans expats and Dutch together or better yet experience the event in a real Dutch sports bar ‘kroeg’. Its such a big part of Dutch culture and I think it’s something you both would enjoy to experience and doesn’t happen too often. You’ll notice also that the further the team advances the crazier the entire country will get. In 2010 all of amsterdam turned orange and they would have parades larger than kings day if they bring it that far. For expats Its great too now because we can’t lose, I’ll be happy if either USA or Netherlands advances.

Hello! The switch is usb c so we just use one of the regular cables. For everything else you can look at it to see if it is 110 or 110/220. If it is both then you can just use a plug converter. Otherwise you’ll need a transformer. We have a few of both. Some things like PlayStations just need the eu power cord and they work fine. Hope this helps
